Scenario is 3 guys left...one with 5 chips..blind is 16 and big blind is 32.
The other two guys are in the blinds so they put their 16 and 32 in the pot. The guy with 5 goes all in and wins the pot. I understand he wouldn't win any possible side pots but does he take the blinds??

SB and BB each put 5 chips into the main pot, and the rest of their blinds into the side pot. Short stack can only win the 15 chip main pot.
If the player that is all-in has the best hand, he can only win the amount he went all-in with from each of the players still in the pot.
In your scenario, he wins his 5 back plus 5 from each of the blinds, for a total return of 15.
By the way, you said "they put their 16 and 32 in the pot." Did the small blind fold pre-flop? If he did not fold, the small blind should have completed his blind with another 16 -- meaning each of the blinds would have put 32 in.
Not that it makes a difference for the all-in player. I'm just clarifying.
k..i think we have been playing it wrong..we had the guy with 5 chips get both blinds...is there any thing in the official rules that deals with this??
