What exactly is the deal with KEM cards? How do they differ from your average deck of Bicycle playing cards, and are they worth the extra money? I'm considering buying a couple of decks for the tournament that I'm hosting.

... anyone?
I'm sure you already checked out the link above, but I'll reiterate.
Kem cards are by far the best cards you can use in home games. One home set up of two decks will last you a lifetime. It's really only a matter of poker size or bridge size (wide vs. narrow) and wether you want super index or regular sized numbers.
If your going ot get them get hte "wide" poker sized. the bridge ones are about 1/4inch narrower.Quote:

Thanks you guys. I've decided to order a couple of decks.
Now all I have to decide on is what designs I want.
They don't happen to have any Pokemon decks, do they?
No, haven't gotten to that point with them yet..Quote:

I've washed a few sticky ones. (Damn beer drinkers can't hold their liquor. )
Just a damp rag and I gently wiped off the shmegma. Presto good as new. After a few more games I'll probably give the edges a good wipe down too (After alot of shuffling.)
Hey. Yeah I wash mine a lot. Sweaty mofos... Damp paper towel, wipe wipe wipe, dry dry dry... Doing it is considered the rake at my home game. Some of the numbers are begining to fade away a bit, and my ace of spades has a crack in it. Im looking for some new wide cards from Kem. I guess they are no longer making them... I got a few off ebay. I guess its buy em while you can. And I hate the red arrow... ... anything but red arrow. Please god. Anyway at 500+ hours of play on them Im starting to have to look for new ones... Another thing. You can not play poker with "bridge cards" thats worse then using the plastic chips from Wal-Mart.
you're entitled to your opinion, but every casino i have ever played poker at used bridge sized KEM cards (or gemaco).Quote:

i don't think there is any part about using Kem cards, bridge or poker, that can be worse than using plastic chips from wal-mart. i have decks of both bridge and poker sizes, and to tell you the truth, most of the people in my home game like the bridge size better. i personally like the wide size, but just because they are called poker size and bridge size shouldn't mean anything, they could just be size A and size B and no one would care which one you used, they're all cards and you can take someone's stack with the bridge size just as well as with poker.
