$200 to invest - Suggestions

Hola,

I've been playing Holdem for about 3 years. Out of the 3 years I've been playing, its been in the last 6 months to a year that I've really begun to develop my game (odds, probabilities, patience, hand selection) etc. I've played a series of RL tournaments at the casino and decided that I do not like them (i h8 rebuys). I much prefer playing online like I used to.

My question is that now I'm considering venturing back into online poker, I'm going to start with an investment of $200. What area do you think would be the best to get me started. I was considering investing the $200 in a series of $6 or $10 sit and gos or maybe taking it to a .25/.50 NL table. The majority of my play is in NL tournaments, which is why I feel that the Sit n Go route might be better instead of limit games which while I am good at, I feel I am better at NL.

Any ideas, comments, or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, we kinda had a similiar question last week where the guy only had $50. But he was trying to learn the game of poker..

It's a subject of ongoing debate here whether SNGs or ring games are more profitable. I'm a proponent of the ring games, but honestly I don't even know which has been more profitable for me. I need to start keeping track of each on a $$/hour basis.

If you're experienced in NL tournaments, then I would go with the NL SNGs. People on this board have been able to make a consistent profit by playing only SNGs.

I don't know what the rule of thumb is for the bankroll to buy-in ratio. Is it 20x buy-in? If thats the case you can start with the $10 SNGs.

if you go with party poker, do the $10 SNG's instead of $5 if you can afford it. the rake is less, and the play is slightly more reasonable than the $5 SNG's.

Ya I was gonna go Party Poker.

Ultimate Bet is nice and all but I always leave with a bad taste for some reason.

I just like the amount of tournaments they have as well as the numerous amount of sit and gos.

I may play some tournaments on Bugsys also.

Play them both and stick with whatever you like better. I play both. IMO the SNG's are safer because you are limited to a fixed buy in. However, if you hit a bad streak you can burn through cash quick on SNG's as well. $200 is a solid enough bankroll to start $5 or $10 tournaments on a regular basis.

I have not had a significant downward swing in cash games in a while so I either win a little or only lose $10-20 in any given session (on .25-50 NL). I would add that I have had swings of $100 in one session both up and down at this level.

$200 should be an adequate bankroll for the $10 SnG's OR the $.25-.50 NL ring games at PartyPoker.

Many of us are split between which game to play, I personally play the $.25-.50 NL cash game, and for me, my bankroll usually just starts at $100. I'll deposit a $100 at the beginning of the month, and for the rest of the month I'm making withdrawals.

Party 6 max $25 NL is where it's at baby! ;) $200 should work out fine, although I like to keep $400 in the tank. I'm a closet LAg, so I take some worse swings and having a think bankroll allows me to be more comfortable with my game.

For example, I played for like 2-3 hours early this morning. Stayed at the same table, busted out twice, rebought some for probably another $20 then left with just shy of a $150 stack.

Well it seems that I've gotten a nice varied amount of opinions on what to do. I'm gonna be starting out with the $10 SnG's and if that works out then do a lil ring game action after at the .25 / .50. But I just wanted to say thank you for all your insightful responses.
