Spooooooooky Halloweeeeeen WW Sign Up Thread

What better time of year to play a Werewolf game than during the month of hallows?!

This game will be a spooky theme, with wolves, villagers, and specials with different spooky names than before.

I've added a poll to determine the style of game play between anonymous or regular. It seems that there are players who are on both sides of the coin. I think I'll cap the poll at first to 8 votes (at which point the game start date would be determined), or whichever has the majority when I have decided to conclude the sign up.

There will be alterations to this game, including but not excluded to, and can be altered at the discretion of the mod:
1) Seer - will act on odd nights only
2) Angel - will act on even nights only
3) if anon game - wolves will be allowed to know each others true identity.

Per member-request, I have submitted a ticket to our Development Team to see if it would be possible to create a vote-counting Bot for our in-house Werewolf matches. I will update this thread once I have new information.

think thats gonna be hard on players as well as the dev team as lots of people abbreviate their lynches i.e lynch ong/wuf/JV/rilla/MMM/BID etc

There are mod bots that work pretty well. They send out the role pms, accept pms for lookups and night kills, count votes and lock the thread when votes are cinched.

I'd have thought it's reasonably simple to tell a programme that jv, jack and jackvance are all the same person, and if it picks up a string it doesn't recognise, it can flag it for mod attention. A vote count bot would be awesome.

The tricky part is to make sure that quoted votes aren't picked up.

People will adapt to the vote bot and learn to lynch the whole name. We're clever like that.

quoted votes will be easy to deal with as a variable could keep count of number of [quote] and when they have been closed with the /quote and only add a vote when the variable is <1 . the issue would be knowing which votes have been counted and which not through spelling mistakes etc. maybe make it so that the bot inserts after the lynch the name of the person it is counting in a certain colour red .blue/pink whatever , so that game mod/players know thatthe vote is correct. only game mod would be allowed to edit any posts with uncounted votes so that the vote count bod could then correct its miscount and maintain the game integrity.

Actually you know what, I'm not sure if this works so instead of surprising people with the format, I'll just post it and see if you want to play it

No night actions, no noms, no specials, just straight lynching. A large percentage of wolves (4 in a 13p game, 5 in a 15p game). The game would last a minimum of five lynching days. The villager strength comes from not getting nommed while the wolves strength comes from bigger numbers. Every new day begins immediately after the lynch is confirmed, so no breaks in play

i think it'd be a less interesting game

like the reason WW is great because you're receiving information from the thread and from learning the identity and trying to discern the motive from two (3) different ways of killing people.

with no NK i basically think the wolves would have no shot with those numbers...you need to be able to do things like level the villagers and mislead them with the nightkills on occasion.

if you just POE the wolfiest players i think the village just crushes the wolves so so often. like probably 80%

Wolves typically can avoid several lynches in a row from the beginning. That opening 9v4 quickly looks like 6v4, with nearly half the village playing for the wolves and having vote and verbal manipulation power

If anything I figured this would be imba against the village.

Seems like a role-reversal if the villagers have no tangible fear from the "wolves" and just start lynching random villagers.

I always thought the notion that the village has to lynch on day 1 was a bit bizarre anyway.

It would make more sense in the narrative of the story if the village didn't start acting until they were reacting.*

EDIT: I just thought that day 1 could be the first day after the village lost someone the night before (so the first nom is pre-game, just back-story).

i mean i'll play, you're modding, it's your game.

but basically i feel that it sort of dumbs down WW, making a complex and great game inherently less interesting because there are fewer options.

I get where you're coming from as you're really into the formation of wagons and studying voting patterns, etc. That stuff is great.

You haven't been a wolf very often, which is a shame, because it's probably more fun. There's a ton of fun in strategizing the night kills, specials hunting etc. that's a huge part of the game, and also giving people the chance to be a special is pretty awesome. i think everyone would admit that they feel a bit meh when they get the PM that says "vanilla."

^Lots of true-true. I don't do narrative though unless it's a simple joke. If we need a reason for the village lynching fools to find the team of wolves it'll be because King Wugy was schtupping all teh wolfie moms then teh wolfies got madface and supper'd him and now teh wugy loyalists are stringing up the suspects till their legs twitch no longer

That's all pretty much true. I think I may be the odd one out in that I prefer "vanilla". I'm stressing about catching wolf because I don't want to lose when that happens

The real reason I thought to do it this way is so we can have a bigger wolf team. 2 wolves blows, 3 is the bare minimum we should ever use. A team of 5 wolves would be pretty neat and really fun for those wolves. Big teams bring cool dynamics, but they're also ridiculously powerful, so I figured if I made a big team I'd just take away their noms

In case we actually play this format, I don't wanna give too much away, but I think not allowing wolves to nom incentivizes them to play trickier. Which in turn incentivizes a cognizant village to know the wolves are probably playing tickier, and on

Let's see what others have to say. I'm not wed to the format, just thought getting a big wolf team would be cool

You could do a 5 wolf team normally, you just need to balance the village out by giving them more specials. Like a double seer or something

What's a double seer? Obviously we need to avoid having too many specials so as to avoid a massclaim

I'm fine with whatever format is decided on.

Massclaims are a threat, sure. But its good village strategy, and its common now. So it makes sense that wolves have to be able to anticipate it. The issue is when the claim is uncounterable, like a vigilante.

Anyway, if you make the wolves stronger, you have to make the village stronger to compensate. Its just a balancing act. No night actions hurts wolves, and hurts the village (since they have no specials)...and bear in mind that our votes rarely get to a majority. A game with more than 33% wolves is probably an auto loss for the village if the wolves just vote together.

I vote lots of wolves with more special powers given to the village. We've never tried that before and at first glance I suspect lots of craziness.

But I don't mod crazy. It's my secret to why I can say modding is easy

Sniper Vigilante - Takes aim, only kills wolves. If he aims at a villager, the mod notifies the vig that it was a villager. Sort of like a seer/vig combo.
