I thought the IRA was those Irish fuckers who are like guerilla pimp terrorists who hate the British or something
Stone or AleSmith.
If I had to pick one I would go with ColumbusBrewingCompany, Bodhi. Can't find a picture, I think they only distribute this on draft
Lagunitas IPA is good. I like just about all their beers.
Not sure if you can find it but Flying Monkey Brewery makes a "Smashbomb Atomic IPA" that's pretty unique. It's way too hoppy for my tastes, but if you like hops than there's not much better. I much prefer their Hoptical Illusion (Almost Pale Ale), that one is one of my favorite beers. Their packaging/marketing looks very gimmicky, almost to the point I didn't want to try it, but their beer is the real deal.

Ballast Sculpin IPA
I also have a few double ipas logged on untappd i love but can't remember them right now. i'm kinda drunk
Had a green flash ipa Tuesday night - good stuff.
Are you looking for just single IPAs or are doubles allowed itt? I drink so many IPAs it's stupid...
A friend of mine does some home brewing and he taught us a few things about IPAs.
Originally hops were used as preservatives so beer could survive the long journey to India.
Now people just like the taste of hops and they're not used as preservatives like back in the day.
There are like 10,000 IPAs. Why pick one favorite?
Single, double, triple ...
Post'em all
My favorite mainstream IIPA is Lost Continent by Grand Teton. There are loads of very solid IPAs and IIPAs. It's easy to go the well house and say "oooohHHH Pliney the Elder is amazing" but that's like saying the Jenna Jameson is a hot bitch. Or that Spoon likely has daddy issues.
Two Hearted is easy peasy great IPA. Ranger by New Belgium is solid. Saga by Summit is also pretty terrific. I feel like these past 3 are the best/easiest-to-access of the IPAs. I may be forgetting some, but fuck you, i'm drunk.
You know what I don't like? These new Belgian IPAs. It's like blue moon (hate) made love to an IPA and the child inherited all the blue moon shitty genes with some hoppy bite to it.
Yes, this is utter bullshit. I fucking HATE HATE HATE when I walk into a bar, and while I'm perusing the taps the idiotic bartender who is used to idiot customers asks "so what kind of beers do you like?" and I respond "I like really hoppy beers" and they say "OHhh, have you tried the Chainbreaker? It's a white IPA!" and then I pick up a bar stool and beat them over the head with it very hard until they stop breathing.
serious drinking is serious.
What is an IPA?
The first thought that comes to mind is the marketing hype of 'Greene King IPA', yuk.
I like Real Ales, some of which could perhaps be classed as pale.
The best Ales are from micro breweries.
There are some reasonable large commercial brews like Fuller's London Pride which doesn't travel well, so their range of IPA labels offer some drinkable bottled beers.
Don't forget the I (India) part of IPAs. In my book the India part means hoppy so ipa means hoppy pale ale.
I like Porters too - maybe we should make another thread for those.
I just tried Therapist IPA from Dust Bowl, Weapons Grade IPA from Auburn Ale House and Brew Free or Die IPA from 21st Amendment Brewery.
Therapist IPA was not my cup of tea - the hops or something smelled funny.
Weapons Grade and Brew Free were both good. Brew Free is pretty smooth.
Yesterday I made a mistake and bought some Cobra zero percent alcohol.
(It was cheap and I didn't look too carefully).
Well it is Indian LOL.
But the reason to mention it is if you like hoppy, then this stuff certainly is a very hoppy drink.
Without the alcohol this lager is hoppier than any IPA.
Yesterday I tried Simtra Triple IPA from Knee Deep Brewing Company.
Surprisingly, the overall taste is good. The alcohol taste doesn't stand out even though the label says it is 11.25%. This is kind of rare, it is my experience that beer with more than about 10% alcohol doesn't have a great overall taste.
Can someone explain to me the difference between a stout and a black IPA? One of the nicest drinks I've had is apparently a black IPA and I'm not really sure why it wasn't a stout.
A stout is typically signified by a small amount of low alpha early and late addition hop (i.e., one that won't impart a lot of bitterness but enough to balance the sweetness of the malt, and not enough to push the floral/fruity notes in the nose), and roasted barley as a grain along with other darker grains, such as chocolate malts, black malts, or dark crystal malts to name a few.
Black IPAs are essentially IPAs (which means it has a lot of hops with higher alpha concentrations, and it adds in some of those "other" dark malts I listed above, but typically not roasted barley).
Had some Lagunitas IPAs today. It's hard to beat Lagunitas...
Had some Red Betty IPA today. It was just ok I guess.
Had AFD yesterday.
