River decision against a maniac

Hello again!

After a few weeks without a hand I´m back and startet to play again. So here´s an interesting hand (for me), because it was against a maniac where I have some difficulties to play against.

In the following hand the utg player is 46/17/6,1 AggFr: 51%, AF: 3,3, Fold to 3b: 0%, 4b: 50% (2h)
He dominates the table the last 69 hands, likes to overbet/bet the pot and checkraises a lot.
One time he bets pot on river he showes a complete bluff.


Pre
Till now it seems he doesen´t cares much about position so I 3bet here for value. He calls...

Flop
I hit the aces. What can he have? He had raised 17% of the time so I put him on something like two high cards or a pair.
When he checkes to me I tend to the high cards and decided to represent weakness. So no bet on the flop.

Turn
As expected I get the bet. I don´t want to scare him away so I call to extract another bet on the river. He´s just so aggressive and loves to bet pot high on rivers but on the other side has shown some laydowns against a checkraise. Oh, and I don´t give him to much credit for a flush draw here because the Ace and the King are on board.

River
Well here I am and I get his standard potsized bet. So what can I beat? Nearly all Aces and most of the kings (wich he would bet) Two pair up I´m done.
I tend to put him on an ace, a king or maybe a bluff (flush draw?) because he checks the flop.
So He would call at least all aces and +).
Shurely a call would be ok, but I don´t give him much credit here and decided to raise. (And I wanted to punish him :rolleyes:)

He can beat you with 33, 44, KK, A3, A4, and AK. A3 and A4 usually aren't in a 17% range (or if they are, just the suited versions, which leaves just the one combo: A4-spades). He'd probably 4bet KK and AK, so we should probably discount those a lot. Would he check a flopped full house (with 44)? Maybe. Would he bet the turn with 33 on a board with 2 Aces and a K? Maybe. So there isn't much realistically in his range that can beat you. A4-spades, 33-44 (only 3 combos each, since one card is already on the board, and even these can maybe be discounted some), and a random combo or two of AK he decided not to 4bet pre.

On the other hand, given your reads, there are a number of combos he could do this with that you beat. KT-KQ, 55-JJ (maybe), and Ax. He will definitely call with Ax, and maybe spazz call with some other things like KQ, so this seems like value to me.

Fold to 3bet: 0%

Raise much more PRE. Closer to ~$1,50. Villain isn't folding anything in his range. Go for max value.

Personally, I'd C-bet AAx flops almost every single time. I mean, unless you're waaaay off balance, you should have a lot more Aces than anything else in your range. C-bet sizing can be quite small, since there are basically no draws out there, and of course, I'm playing for stacks OTF.

That said, you can definitely check behind with your monsters against maniacs, who will assume you're playing weak/passive.

Other than your 3-bet sizing PRE, I think this is played fine.

EDIT: When taking the line you've taken, use the timing bluff to take a little longer than usual to call his bets. This is a good way to get donkeys to keep firing bluffs.

If he checkraises a lot why are you not cbetting this flop?

I like it! I don't mind betting the flop 0.50 either to induce a c/r.

My thought was I´m in MP, there are players behind and he raises utg - what will I do if he 4bets my AQo. So I decided to play in my comfort zone.
After I´ve seen his hand I´m convinced it was a mistake and you are right.

First I wanted to bet half the pot but don´t like it then. Wanted to keep him in the hand for sure. But the idea of betting even less then half the pot (like the 0,50) seems good too.
