Ever notice how everybody likes Creedence Clearwater and pizza?
Lots of people I'm sure don't consider either one their favourite thing, but in a jam most people can find common ground on those 2 things. Different folks may prefer different toppings or different songs... but they are both usually peace makers at a mixed party.
That's my observation for the day.
I don't particularly like CCR.
i know this one guy, he hates pizza.
Some of these posts could really do with a like button. It's a new world.

I find CCR to be kind of insufferable. Why that middle class socal nigga gotta sing like he from Bayou La Batre? But yeah they are pretty universally likable. I think Eagles is more so.
I think invite a random sample of the population to your house to listen to the Eagles, eat pizza, and watch the Lion King, everyone's gonna be fairly appeased.

I admit that I think it is a cheaply made/overmarketed, crappy beer that doesn't have much (any?) flavor and its ABV is too low. Then again I don't really dislike it, and I haven't come across many people who have had a real problem with it, even among non-beer drinkers. Perception is also probably heavily affected by location and demographics. I live in midwestern U.S. That fact is not lost on me.
I am curious what others would suggest as a general crowd pleaser. Say you need to run to the nearest store or gas station to pick up 1 type of beer for a mixed group of people, what do you get? Or are those preconditions too strict?
No idea what PBR or Old Style are like, but the rest of them taste like fizzy water. American beers are really the bottom of the barrel. I'd even prefer to drink things like sol and corona over them.Quote:

The word among the cool folks is that other countries do the best mass produced beer, and US does the best non-mass produced.

Not that intuition proves anything, but it really does make sense that the greatest craft beer scene would emerge in the country with the worst mass market beers.
Anyone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've heard, in much of Europe you go in a Pub and order a pint and they give you a pint, without asking what kind. That's because they have one kind. What I gather is that local and regional breweries have a strong grasp on their respective markets, so you end up with lots of interesting and unique beers due to a lack of competition. In the states you have the opposite, you almost never see a bar with only one beer selection, on the contrary, it's not uncommon to walk into a bar which has dozens and dozens of beers to offer. So you end up with lots of interesting and unique beers, which have to directly compete with each other. Breweries are far more likely to try new things in the hopes of wowing an ever increasingly astute audience. And this sort of competition fueled creativity is what creates the cutting edge in any creative endeavor.

I'm a big fan of meatless garbage pizza for Chicago style square cut thin crust. For Chicago stuffed, spinach is the nuts. And for New York style thin slices, if the quality is there, the simple stuff is the best-- plain cheese, mushroom, or margaritta ftw.
Btw, does anyone else find it disturbing that there was (and to an extent still is) a successful large national restaurant chain named "California Pizza Kitchen?" I mean, srsly.. that's like a restaurant named "Seattle BBQ Pit" growing into a successful national chain.
John Fogherty is definitely one of my favourite musicians and singers with or without pizza.

I disagree that Chicago style is deep dish. I feel like that's a common misconception. Name a famous Chicago pizzeria, Giordanos, Carmens, Unos, Gino's, etc. They are known for their stuffed pizza, not deep dish. I guess deep dish is a Chicago thing too, Lou Malnatti's and Pequod's don't have stuffed IIRC, but are famous for their deep dish.
