25nl 6-Max: Bottom set and hating life

Is this one of those times where we can find a fold with a set?

The difficulty I'm having is coming up with a reasonable flop raising and continuing range for a relative unknown. A range of 77,99, 86hh, T8hh has me crushed, but adding in just AA and a few combos of KK or AKhh makes this a jam.

I only have a handful of hands on villain, but early indication is that he may be quite aggressive and playing a wide range.

Surely he'll be raising his flush draws and then continue betting them when you check he could be trying to take the pot down.

Only thing I have no idea about is if you jam whether he will fold out the worse part of his range and call the better.

id prolly fast play the flop, runouts make mistakes happen and we're oop so life sucks. villain prolly has some 2pairs and enough draws and mebbe some over pairs too
not a fan of calling small pairs vs steals w/o reads particulaly one that is playing a wide range aggressively. we pretty much always need to bink our set and prolly dont get a full stack when we do. BB might change my mind tho, is he fish?

Calling pre-flop is likely to be a bad idea. On the flop, it's pretty much time to get it in. There are a ton of draws, two pairs and overpairs that Villain could have, and you have good equity against 86.

I am also guilty of calling pre in these spots knowing it can't be very +EV if at all, except vs very nitty villains. This leaves folding or 3 betting. Which one would you recommend, Spoon, vs an aggro with a wide range?

When you donk the flop people put you on flushdraws. Definitely b/3b flop.

Think about your range instead of your hand. I fold pre-flop.

Just a general comment on ranges. Similar hands tend to play the same. It's often much easier to see the hand youre afraid of than the hands you beat. If you're putting 86s in his range you probably need to put 57s and 79s in there too. If you're not putting 57s and 79s, you probably shouldnt put 86s. That probably makes things much simpler.

Wild guess: OP only hated life after seeing the results

i'd fold pre. i like your flop lead, but i'd 3b/call it off it to ~$10 here. once you've checked the turn i'd just jam

BB is tagged as a passive station, but fold pre looks like the better choice.

Problem I'm having at 25nl on Stars is that nobody seems to raise the flop without the near nuts and this is consequently one of those spots that just seems so marginal getting it in - I'd expect the standard villain to call a flush draw and all overpairs facing a donk from a TAG on this flop and I'm only 33% versus a range of {99,77,Th8h,97s,86s,75s}.

Time to reverse this results-orientated thinking in any case.
