dylan, dylan, dylan, dylan, dylan
that's the only one that's maybe not true.
why do you think it's doubtful, though?
because phil ivey.

making money pre 2010 was way easier than making money in 2013, so that's not a good argument for who is better at poker right now. that graph shows him BE after 2010.
"because phil ivey" is also not a good argument
Renton, have you ever played with any of the people considered amongst the best?
At the top ldo.
Sauce had a sick run last year, there's no doubt about it
Not really. I've played a little bit with sauce and nutsinho at 3/6 and 5/10, and talked a lot of poker with them and the Steinberg twins. I've played mid stakes with people who went on to play much higher and had success. I've never really been a high stakes or hu player though so I've managed to avoid most of the really nasty people.
Why haven't you moved up higher? Is it simply to enjoy it where it's good while it's good?
Oh fuck, I totally forgot to say NO POKER IN THE COMMUNE
lol Phil Hellmuth on any list of "best poker players"
Yeah but he's not
Nobody likes Hellmuth except for contrarians
And he plays some awful poker
pretty sure it's me
I agree, or at least what I've seen of his play on TV was awful. Scared and all. Maybe he plays better when the TV isn't on him :)
I can't think of any TV show, High Stakes, WPT or whatever of which he was part, where I think he played well. I think his style of play is not for todays poker :) He's to Old Skool...
I agree that Phil Hellmuth does make a lot of questionalble plays but he has won almost $20 million and has been tearing up tournaments recently. Sauce123 had a great year and he very well could deserve a spot on the list. I would like to see him play more live tournaments in 2013.
So he's one of the "best" poker players ever because he's won a lot of money?
Sauce123 is a sicko, biggest winner of 2013. He'd be destroying his hourly to play live tournaments - there's no reason for him to play them whatsoever.
Phil Hellmuth is a great nl texas holdem TOURNAMENT player. Yeah, it depends on what kind of poker we're talking about.
I agree that he is a great player but he is only up $4 million and as a high stakes poker player he could very well go on a huge downswing. We see high stakes players have a great year and then the game progresses and you never end up hearing about them again all the time but the people that you do hear about year after year are the great tournament players.
Wrong year, my baddd
Credsfan, deciding best player by winnings is not a good way to go. Is Esfandiari the best player in the world because he won the One Drop for $18m? Pros like Hellmuth have had the advantage of playing very high stakes with small fields for many years. They also play a lot more events than most people. Fooled by randomness
sauce was the biggest online winner last year? wow. fuck yeah.
Sauce is no eagle, that's for sure. He's prob one of those megalomaniac jackals.
Phil Ivey in my opinion is the best.
Phil Ivey just because he's actually good at every game according to a large number of his peers.
Hellmuth is obviously complete trash. Having 14 bracelets in 2-3 formats and being a terrible cash game player in every game according to just about everyone is enough of an argument for this.
Without doing actual research isn't Shaun Deeb really good at all the games, at least in tournament poker anyway and one of the best badugi players(both tournaments and cash) in the world?
I'm out of the whole poker celebrity loop so I don't have any ideas but everyone in this thread seems to be basing assessment on just a small number of forms of poker. NLHE Online, PLO Online, NLHE tournaments instead of looking at who is actually going to have the highest winrate across many formats.
You could also just say the best player is whoever makes the most money which is likely whoever the biggest winner was in the Macau games not sauce123.
Anyway thread is way too ambiguous for their to even really be a conversation.
Shaun Deeb absolutely owns
Who knows how much Dwan has won in the Macau games. There is probably multiple people up 10+ million from those games last year.
What about this guy?
