Is Hold'em manager 2 the latest/best version?
apparently HEM 2 is buggy as anything - but that will eventually clear up.
proibably at the minute HEM is better than HEM 2 but that wont remain the case for long
ahve the trial one (old computer so not sure how much it will slow me down)
Works great....until i load up a 24th table and then the HUD just implodes....not good - but fixable.
Is anyone using HEM2 and has good speed - be interested in what spec computer they have as mine is getting on for 10yrs old now :(
hem 2 or pt3/4
depends on who you ask
I can't use HEM2 to save my damn life. And I really want to, primarily for NoteCaddy though. Just everything about it is super slow on my computer, from trying to play a few tables with a HUD up and it lagging every decision, to trying to muck around in reports with a small hand database. I've had the free trial extended, I've reformatted at one point and gotten to use the free trial again, and each time I end up giving up after about a day of frustration.
I heard they are releasing some update that is supposed to make it less draining on computers that are having a hard time running it well, but haven't kept up to see if it has released yet or not.
I have a laptop that is like 2 or so years old. Intel Core2 Duo CPU T6600, 2.20GHz, 4GB RAM, Windows 7.
Nothing spectacular, but still think it would run it, especially since it runs HEM1 pretty damn well, and everywhere I read on the HEM forums reps are saying that HEM2 is less resource draining than HEM1, and much more so than PT4.
Currently running the trial of PT4, and it's doing pretty well HUD wise. Haven't really messed with the stats/reports or anything yet, but doesn't seem excessively slow. Only thing is the trial has import stop after so many minutes where you have to exit out of PT4 and restart it back up to keep import going, which is retarded and a pain.
I run Microsoft Security Essentials. But I have HEM added tot he excluded files list. Only HEM1 is included right now, don't remember if I ever included HEM2 when I had the trial or not, but would think I at least tried that.
When playing, I typically have Mirc, Skype, an AHK script, Merge Client, MergeKeys, and HEM open. And the last two times I've tried HEM2, it was just lagging me something awful. Even with only a table or two open, if I had the HUD running, it would delay every button click. And this was with a database without any hands imported yet.
I went and did all of the suggestions on the HEM forums for having it run faster/smoother, and it never made much of a difference.
I just started my 30 day free trial on hem2, im pretty clueless when it comes to computers but mine didn't seem to lag at all, although i had no hands imported or anything i punched my last laptop and broke the hard drive so hada start from scratch. Anyway it works well with my laptop dunno the spec though it was expensive so its probably good.
I use HM2, and haven't really had any issues. it has crashed on occasion, but so did PT3/PT4.
i only play 3-4 tables. but it runs fine on my system.
i am running - i5 - 2500k, 16gb ram, OCZ Vertex3 SSD drive, 1 TB Seagate storage drive, Radeon 6870 video card.
The SSD is the way to go. i use Notecaddy and run it after every session. i have about 2.5 million datamined hands, and it takes about an hour or so to process them, but on a regular drive would be considerably longer.
Well I was able to get an extended trial period to give it another go. Hopefully I can get it running well, and eventually buy it along with NoteCaddy. If not, then I suppose it's PT4 or stick with HEM1.
