Loose Tables
Played at a local game, and got my ass handed to me. I've identified a lot of the mistakes I've made. Betting into someone out of position, lack of situational awareness, etc. It was a $300 lesson.
The thing that caught me off guard on this 1/3NL table was the fact that everyone played loose preflop and tight post flop. They ultimately let me hang myself when I would bet into someone out of position when I didn't have the nuts, or I'd raise prelop, and miss, and they'd call the continuation bet.
Here's the scenario. I'm curious as to how you guys would play it.
We'd routinely have 5-6 players as almost everyone would call the $3BB. Meaning the range of what I was up against was almost incomprehensible. To break this trend, I'd often raise to $15/$20 preflop and still get 2-3 callers. I lost with snowmen twice under this scenario, A/Ko once, 6s once, KQs, and a few others I don't remember. The times I would limp in, some guy with 4/6 off would catch the nut straight.
So how do you guys approach a loose table? More or less preflop raises? Do you let the stacks come to you, or do you increase your agressiveness? School me.

I value bet more and bluff less.

I tend to think the more people that see the flop, the more straightforward you play, just because its that much more likely that someone hit it. Nothing wrong with raising AK pre-flop, missing a 4way flop and just c/f'ing.

Play tighter out of position, play a little looser wtih calls in position during multi-way pots and raise big hands always. Don't Cbet if you aren't going to bet the turn cause guys will call with all sorts of gut shots, second or bottom pair looking to improve. And lastly, stop calling them snowmen. It's a fish thing to say. REad everything in the Beginner digest and go out and destroy the table next time. Remember, top pair sucks in multiway pots so don't play it like the nuts.
