Hey! So I just played a live $125 bounty tournament and this hand came up.
Blinds: 500/1000, 100 ante. 10 handed. 300+ entrants, far away from the money
Me (UTG): about 23k
Villain (MP1): He has around 40k. Older guy in his late 50s with grey hair. He just moved to the table like 5 hands ago and limp/folded to a raise earlier. I haven't been in any pots since he sat down.
My hand: AdKd
I raise to 2500, villain makes it 5000.
What do you do?
All in. Even the blue hairs play pretty looser in bounty tournies. He'll snap call AJ/AQ trying to knock you out. Maybe even worse hands, KQs, AT

The raise size and Hero's position/Villain's position makes me want to flat in this spot.

And just because he is old and is running 20/0 over 5 hands, I don't think we can label him a total nit. I just can't find a fold with an M of 9 while holding AKs oop, with a chance to get all the money in.
I often shove too, but it isn't to get him to fold the unlikely AQ- that he rarely has (he would likely call with those hands pre), it is to get him to fold his JJ and QQ that he very often has. Because you are OOP, this is also a very very good spot to set up the go'n'go by re-minraising. Unless he has exactly AA (which is definitely part of his range) it will set the fear of god into an old nit and might even get him to fold KK postflop. You also will often get him to fold an AK that you are chopping with.
I'd fold and it's not close imo.
Even in a bounty tournament? Personally, I have seen some fairly nitty players open up/gamble a fair bit when they have the chance to knock someone out. I don't think we can take AQ out of this guy's min 3bet/calling all in range.Quote:

All options have merit. sometimes the old nits with do this with smaller pairs than you would think, then turn them into bluffs post. It is a good concept although they are doing it for the wrong reasons with the wrong hands.
I'd probably flat, but actually char's go and go idea is likely best. shoving/folding is OK too, we don't really have any good options.
