a bunch of 10nl 6m AIpf hands

BB is a 70/63 over 91 hands who loves going AI preflop, often before anyone has stuck a cent in. I've seen him shove pre with K9o, KQo, 88, K4o, 57s, AA, KJo, QTo, Q9o, and a load of other crap I can't remember. He is the villain in all of the rest of the hands here. SB is a 17/12 but of course everyone has been watching the whale give away cash for kicks so his calling range once whale is in the pot is obv much wider.

These are all standard, right?

The reason I ask is because between these and about 5 other AIPFs with AK or big PPs I was down 5 BI at one point. I ended up like $2 up for the session eventually, but it got me wondering about these hands.

ALso, what's my range for calling this guy: I was using 55+, A9s+, AT+, KQ

And on a side note, at the point when I was 5 BIs down, I could feel a tightness in my chest, I could actually feel my blood pressure increase and every fibre of my body wanted to scream, but I didn't tilt on that table or any of the others.

OK, maybe I tilted a little in terms of not playing my A game for like 2 or 3 hands, but there waqs no stupid raises or bluffs and that's perfectly acceptable in my book.

The caling range i would employ here would be 99+ A9s+ AT+ and probably KQ KQs

So i guess the only thing i would change is the PP's no less than nines.

It depends on your attitude to variance calling with 55 and 77 seems a bit loose to me as your flipping for 100bb stacks against any 2 overs. You might technically be making the correct call with more equity but you'd have to play a huge sample to notice any profit, if your sitting at a table with this guy your not going to log enough hands to make it worth the variance imo.

He might shove a ton but he'll be picking up open raises and blinds and will win a small amount till some1 picks him off. I suggest just waiting for a stronger pocket pair than 5's so your more likely only going to be up against 1 over card increasing your equity and reducing variance, but if your happy flipping for 100bb then why not.

These are obviously high variance but seem fine to me.

I know it's high variance, but so is staking of pf with AK, and Fuck Him! If he is gonna give away money I may as well get my share and while I understand that I won't play that many hands against him, I will against his type over a lifetime of poker. In 1 session we went AIpf about 10 times.

But back to ranges. If he is tending to push lots of K hi and Qhi hands, am I better off shoving with maybe any Ace and dropping pps below say 9s?

Ok i give villain a range of 55+ A2s+ A2o+ K6o+ K6s+ Q6o+ Q6s+ J6o+ J6s+ is this somewhat close to the mark? I mean if he's shoving K4o i'm assuming he'll shove most of that range.

Calling range A): 99+ A9s+ A9o+ has 64.900%

Calling range B): 99+ A2s+ A2o+ has 57.673%

we'll round up:

so with range A your winning 65/100 hands vs villains range AIpf

and with range B your winning 58/100 hands vs villains range AIpf

That's an extra 7 wins per 100 hands with range A (7 BI's)

Obviously thats 65/100 over a MASSIVE sample so over 100 hands anything could happen that's why i'd prefer the stronger calling range, range A.

i'd be incredibly wary of this. it may just be me, but when this kind of stuff happens i often try to do a "tilt checkup" and almost invariably conclude that i am fine and am playing optimally and should continue to do so etc etc. and while it may be true that i am still opening the same ranges for the same size and c-betting the same flops etc, i am still far more at risk of making impulsive, thoughtless, irrational decisions if the situation to do so presents itself. this, for me at least, is an inherent by-product of the tilty adrenaline rush you described. emotion takes over logic. that could just be me. and i'm drunk so the above may not make sense.

ps i'm talking about the tommy angelo "non A-game performance" idea of tilt here, whereby any slight predisposition to making suboptimal decisions is tilting.

77 is borderline ok but I hate calling 50bbs on the flop from sb. I suppose 7-1 is enough if he has any overcards but meh.

Think 55 might be a fold

I dont open 55 with this guy behind. and I think I fold 77 with the small blind obviously expecting the shove, in his shoes id flat big hands hoping for this moron to shove but id never call a hand i wasnt willing to stack off with. the rest are obviously good.

The 77, sb shoved AQo on the flop. Fucker spiked a Q on the turn too.

Have you worked out the EV of each situation?

Have you used All In Expert? It's free software. Type in the pot size, amount to call, and define the villain's range, and it will show you a nice graphic of which hands to call or fold.
