JJ on low paired flop 25nl 6max

Hello FTR, I read this forum for a long time but this is my HH posted here.

villain looks reggy, 19/19 after 16 hands, 3bets my HJ open from the BU orbit earlier

SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero has J:diamond: J:heart:

fold, Hero raises to $0.75, fold, SB calls $0.65, fold

Flop: ($1.75, 2 players) 5:club: 5:heart: 8:heart:
SB checks, Hero bets $1.25, SB raises to $3.00, Hero calls $1.75 ???

Turn: ($7.75, 2 players) K:heart:
SB bets $4.25, Hero calls $4.25

River: ($16.25, 2 players) 3:heart:
SB bets $18.20 and is all-in, ???

I am not sure about the flop b/c, I cbet expecting I can get raised.
I called to keep his draws and bluffs in. Called turn because this looks like a perfect hand to barrel for him. This leaves me with a tough decision on the river.
Do you think I can call the river here profitably?

Looking at the hand now I think I could get it in on flop.
Any feedback will be appreciated :)

I don't like your flat call on the flop.

He's defending from the SB so i'd probably give him a range of K-10+, A-x+, small Pairs, and some big SCs like 10-9+. Slowplaying his big hands is possible too. His C/R range is so wide that he could be doing it w/ overcards, A-5, overcards with flushdraws, Ah-xh etc hence i'd probably want to 4-bet him in the flop to like $8.00 or so; you'll know where you stand

Turn call is thin but not bad. It's a card he could be barelling w/ definitely because it hits his range but your heart could be dead too. You probably would not be making this decision on the turn if you re-raised the flop.

As played, fold river.

Oh and i do not want to get it in on the flop. Stacks are too deep for it. You're most likely in a coinflip or beat if you get called. :(

fishtank: you don't like the flop call, you also don't wanna get it in, but you also want to raise the flop to find out where you are? 32BB is a lot to spend to make him fold bluffs.

This is balls out if it's a bluff. I fold the turn. I don't know how the flop could be better but I hate it. Fuck knows.

how do you hate the flop.... im so befuddled. there is no other way to play this hand otf

do you just fold this flop kickass? like we have position and villain could be just trying to make us fold our c-bet air.

no I play it the same, its the situation that I hate, we have no options but to play it the same. it feels like we're getting owned a ton on a lot of runouts, and we're playing guessing games. If this isnt a tough spot at 25nl then ive got much more to learn than I thought.

Pre fine. Flop fine. Fold on this turn.

calling flop is good unless you have some read that villain is likely to go crazy with flush draws, worse pairs, or air vs a 3b.

folding the flop is an awful thing to do imo given that "reggish" players flat very little 5x out of the blinds and people rarely check/bomb flopped full-houses or quads.

Is this thought possibly colored by the result? What range do you think you are getting it all-in against on the flop and what is your equity against this range?

Yes but that's because it does help out his range. Keep in mind that he usually folds hands that have made a straight draw preflop. Unless you think he's c/r'ing the flop often with a complete bluff or 8x and looking to barrel scary turns, this isn't valid reasoning for calling the turn. This is a bad card for you, and this is where I think you should fold. Folding the flop is possible with a better read.

As much as I'd be thinking to fold the flop out of pure (and incorrect) nittishness thinking which says "fold to aggression until you have better reads", what is villain repping that beats you? QQ-KK is unlikely as villain would have raised you pre 9/10. AA is more likely than those as some regs like to get fancy with that from time to time, but still very unlikely. 5x and 8x are also unlikely, so flop must be a call. FD is more likely than a K on th turn as I don't see that there's much Kx he would have a) called pre with and b) raised on the flop so there's even a valid argument for calling the turn. This is a good example of "when a scare card is not a scare card".

Fold river.

This is a really good scare card to fold to on turn.

Curious why you think it isn't other than you don't think the K hits his range very often/very hard?
