KK 3B pot, CF this river? 20NL

Recently started playing on ipoker....villain is a reg on two of my tables...only thing in his range I can beat is AQ maybe KQ and i doubt his shoving those here....looks more like a boat or 89/T9 kind of straight...I think when I checked river you can discount any AK / boats in my range

What about my bet sizing? C/F to this river bet and be happy about it right?

I'm liking it as played, snap fold river.

It's tough to put villain on much here, is he really cold calling flop with a set when you have AK and QQ in your range? How's your image? Is he flatting QQ pre or 4betting? I think his range is pretty thin, like AK 99 and QQ only, I can't see what else he can have. I doubt he value bets AQ on this board at river, so if he has it he's bluffing and trying to push you off KK/AA. What's his call to 3bet %? Can he really have T9 type hands? Sure your river check tells him a straight is good, so if he can call them pre they're certainly shoving river for value against KK/AA.

Whatever, for sure he has nothing you beat imo, and your sizing is pretty good imo as it leaves an easy river bet to get it in on better rivers than this.

betting $3 otr has its merits.

Fair enough m2m, though I'll point out when I say I snap fold river, what I actually mean is that the decision to fold comes at around the same speed as it takes my brain to register the river and his bet size. I never actually snap fold these spots, even if I know I'm folding immediately. If villain bets $1 I'm obviously not folding, so I need to at least see what his sizing is. But your point is valid, I won't be literally snap folding, and I'll avoid using that term in future.

I think you played it fine. Pretty gross river spot obv but with his very low AF over a decent sample I think it's probably a fairly straightforward fold. You're always beat here.

Comon, 'snap fold' means 'its an easy decision' not 'LOL FOLD WITHOUT THINKING AT ALL BRO'.

I guess I am in the minority here, but I hate sticking half of the effective stack in the middle and then folding an over pair on the river with a paired board.

When the villain flatted your flop bet, before acting on the turn... put him on a range of hands that might do that. What part of that range then calls a barrel?

It is 25NL, so I think you can put his flatting range on AJ, KJ, QJ, 99.. unless you think he actually flats with pre-flop with AK or QQ. 88 or JJ is possible, but he should get those in on the flop as you are obviously repping a big pair and the board is scary as shit.

Once the board pairs we are happy because it is highly unlikely we are behind and now he has less outs to river us.

I actually like a check-shove line on the turn.. I think he bets the majority of his flop calling range to protect against our AK, which is what it looks like we have now. I think he spews and calls with nearly his entire range quiet frequently once we shove.

We also have the added benefit of getting him to add some money to the pot with a couple bluffs.

As played, jam the river. If he has 99, AK, or QQ or some other crazy nut crap, oh well.. cooler. But when he snaps you off with AJ, QJ, KQ, KJ, AQ.. you will be happy you didn't check.

there is a flaw in your logic here, specifically your ego is getting in the way of you making an objective decision. ideally you shouldn't 'feel' anything about the decision to fold or call this river regardless of what the best play is. you should just evaluate the situation as an investment and take the most +EV route. if folding (oev) > calling, fold. if calling > folding, call. you may want to do the opposite of what you should do, but thats basically just speculating on your investment decision (aka gambling). take what you learned from reading professional no limit holdem by ed miller, digest it, then forget it because cliches in poker are only good at getting a beginner up on his feet. if you want to become a smart, thinking player, you need to ditch this thought process of 'well I put xx$ in the pot and I shouldn't fold after that point because it violates the commitment rule of SPR'. spr is a good concept, but its better to be thought of more intuitively at the table, and studied off the table to create a game plan than as a way of structuring your decisions in a vaccuum.
