just not sure what to do in this situation....
He's got 40BB's (not enough to bother set mining), 14/7 over 29 hands,
Do we have enough equity in our mid PP's to play this?
Do we call and see the flop, 3bet, or just shove?

Looks like a pretty easy call to the single raise, now you have to fold.

To call
Your hand has enough equity to win on it's own a decent % of the time. If he has a big hand you can bink sets and pretty much stack him 100% of the time. There's deeper stacks behind you who might tag along and you have good implied odds versus these players.

To fold
Squeezers behind you because after it gets squeezed this shorty is going to ship a decent % of the time. Playing in squeezed pot OOP sucks 180bb deep etc.

i don't understand why you 3b pre when you should have been folding pre

I don't like the 3-bet pre (probably calling, I can understand why folding is better though) but I don't understand why we're folding as played getting 2-1, are we that worried that BTN has slowplayed a monster and is calling if we shove? If shorty is only shoving AK, QQ+ we have the right price.

No i wasn't thinking about the btn having a monster.
Why I played - b/c especially against the short stackers, from what I've seen at these stakes, the short stackers are usually fishier and I can count on them having weaker ranges. Also I had pos on this pfr.

I see I made a mistake by not calling the shove. It's not above these guys to do this with suited broadways - however no reads on this one so that's prob to big of an assumption.

As far as folding, are we just looking set mining with this hand?

but baudib, so you're saying you'd put in a 5bet shove here to shut out BU? 'Cause as yaawn pointed out it sucks if we call and BU calls behind here.

Stats on BTN would help.

I would not suspect that shorty is shoving any two suited cards here, he looks pretty tight.

icanhastreebet pointed out that calling the initial shortie raise is OK not because we're playing just for set, but we'll get into spots postflop with position where we can like call one bet on the flop on a J88 flop or whatever and try to get to showdown cheaply (if I've understood his post correctly), and that because there are deep stacks behind you who might call, and give us a profitable situation for when we bink a set.

i call pre because my hand and position are strong enough to play against shortie's range and position, and because this isn't a part of the hand range i expect to have >50% equity against villain's shoving range (and thus isn't in my 3bet/felting range)

You still didn't mention button/sb/bb stats which are very important. I mean they are all >100bb deep and you are 180bb deep with 2 of them so Iunno why ANYONE would advocate folding a hand this strong preflop without the knowledge that like ALL these players are heavy squeezers.
