What did Johnny Donothing not do?

I did not make this post for a while because I thought it sounded too much like some forced lateral thinking, but I think it's an important concept to internalize.

I'm going to track back a little. When I see a 30/10 c/c, c/c, c AK on Axx x x, against the preflop raiser heads-up, I make a note that reads: 'flat AK pre oop, c/c, c/c, c on Axx x x HU'.
The reason I do this is not so that I can narrow down his checking range, but so I have a better idea what his range looks like when he donks or c/raises.
When I face a donk bet on A:s:T:h:2:d: by the same player later on, I can significantly reduce his tptk/tpgk/2-pair combos and go from there.
The same applies when you have a note that someone check/called a draw and donked when he hit, and now he c/r a 567 2-tone flop, etc.

Every non-action is as important as every action when you put your opponent on a range.
Now ahead you go and take notes on your villains you will!

far more important to figure out why hes doing it as opposed to just what hes doing

Interesting that you should say that because especially with really bad opponents it made my life a lot easier to concentrate on what he's doing rather than why he's doing it.

If you know why he's doing it then you understand the way your opponent thinks. If you understand the way your opponent thinks you own him.

I sometimes call down AK on an Axx flop against a pre flop raiser, usually for one of two reasons... either, to keep villain betting (this would be read based, I'd know he likes to barrell a lot with air before I decide to take this line), or I sometimes do it to fuck with people's heads, make it tough for villain to put me on an accurate range now and in future hands. Depends on the villain etc. Just because someone calls down AK on an Axx flop once, that does not make it their standard line in that spot.

I found trying to understand what a fish's actions reveal about their thought process rather scary and not really that helpful. I'd rather just note that villain will take stupid line x and leave it at that.
I think it's an interesting subject, but it wasn't the point of the thread at all, so I'll just leave it at hat.

Onga, sure there are people like you, but most players take the same lines in the same situations over and over again until they spazz out and tilt, and after that it's more of the same.

ja, you understand it's cos they're stupid. That they either hate folding, or that they hate betting/raising, or that they're scared money, or that they're dead money

If somehow I found myself OOP with AK on an A-high flop without initiative I'd probably C/R the flop like 95% of the time.(I could see flatting AK from the blinds from time to time to strengthen our calling range)

I'm sure there must be reasons why I should get into that situation and just c/c but I'm not sure I can think of many (assuming the board isn't super scary).

I'm not saying my line is superior or w/e but it's just such a weird spot to be in.
