he's commited by calling the flop

you should absolutely never check a hand as strong as AKs in a loose/passive game when limped to on the BB. your opponents calling ranges are hugely dominated by your hand and you should be looking to raise it up for value against these loose/passive players and look to get a ton more value postflop.

ship the turn because he only has a bit over 1/2 a pot-sized bet in his stack and so probably calls you down with any diamond and maybe even some non-flush hands like 98s or whatever.

I like the turn check cos there's only three diamonds in the deck that he can call with really, but thousands of stupid hands that he can bluff with, and he might catch a set or thinks he can call for a split on a 4th diamond. If he calls the turn, he calls all rivers as well, so we're not in a hurry to get it in.
90c on the turn is also lots of fun, but maybe too much fps.

I guess I like the turn check because of stack size but in at these stakes I'd be surprised if someone who limped in can fold a lower flush so would probably bet the turn anyway

Initially I thought the turn check was fine also...

...but the thing about it is that villain will either have a diamond that'll pay us off at some point anyway, OR he has a pair/2pr/set that's probably content to check it down. Can't see him turning something 1pr thru a set into a bluff.

So we might as well just shove turn and hope for a hero call from the non-flush part of his range that'll shutdown if one of those 7 diamonds comes. I don't think checking the turn makes that range more likely to call the river shove nearly enough to counterbalance the 15%ish of the time the river diamond falls and villain totally shuts down.

I'd bet like 58 cents on the turn.

Yes we can, stack size and the fact he posted a dead blind give you some info on the CO. Same with the other players.

I can see an argument for that bet sizing: you're trying to get worse hands to call, but at 5nl I would think that some idiot is going to stack off with worse than the nuts which would make a shove the clear winner. Esp with the psr in play.

you dont need math to prove that 60c turn bet is better. it could easyly induce a shove from Jd or make him bluff you over or get called by 2pair/set/straight and by river w/ what he has left he cant find a fold. the bet is so small that looks like a we're bluffing turn and there arent so many 5nl players that can lay down 2pair+ on that small bet.

erm, there's another betting round. you bet $.9 and if called villain has $1.81 left in a $6 pot on the river. You'll get it in anyway. Likely more often.

Just to be pedantic, Ad Kd is not the nuts on this board. 10d 7d would be the nut straight flush, and T7 suited is Daniel Negreanu's favourite hand. I guess he wasn't the villain this time, or you might have got busted. ;)

if you are worried on turn for 2 straight flush combos (T7dd,75dd) when he has at least 4 combos that he calls turn ( QdQx, QJdd) then you must follow this advice, that i was given when i joined FTR, go read and learn all in BEGINNER'S DIGEST.

if you were ironic, then you shoul add that river beats us w/ straight flushes and FH's also

Oh, it would be in the back of my mind that villain might have got a straight flush, or have a chance at getting a full on the river, but I'd still want to get it all in with the ace high flush. If I got beat, then that's just poker.
