Just wondering I have been playing the shallow tables at $2NL, should i be raising 4x like I do in 100bb games or drop it to 3x because of 40bb stacks I would be committing 1/10th of my stack pf if there is no limpers?

until you reach stakes where min raising is optimal play the normal/deep stack games
Ok cheers I will be playing the normal 100bb soon hopefully I just had a tiny br left on FT so I wanted to grind it up a bit playing the shallow games before buying in for $2.
I'm not sure about the old min-raise, so I'm really hoping M2M elaborates on this point. For example, if I'm sitting on the big blind holding 68s, I'm calling a min raise all day long, but anything over a min raise and it's villain dependent. I don't see what difference it makes what level we're at, I'm influenced by the pot odds, not the monetry value of a big blind. I understand why we raise higher at lower levels, since fish are calling larger raises with a wider range, but I'm rarely min-raising since I don't want the bb to be priced in to see a flop, I want him to make a mistake by calling the larger raise. Maybe calling 68s on the bb to a min raise is a mistake, in which case min raising would make sense, since it will encourage more mistakes from villains. I'm just not convinced calling 86s or 43s etc to a min raise on the bb is a mistake. I don't think I need to worry too much about this just yet though, but I'm curious.
It's not so much about stealing as it is about not being exploited by 3b shovels and setting yourself up for some wiggle room post flop. If you have an edge it's mostly better to have a higher spr.
If there is no 3-betting going on, then open to 3x or whatever. I would really recommend to stay away from the shorstack tables tho. Learn to play 100bb+ deep first.
It looks like there's no rake at 2nl but i dunno. At 2c/4c playing shallow is pretty gay cos you'll pay the full 5% most hands: Poker Rake - How to Calculate Poker Room Rake - Calculating the Rake
That means if you get it in against an 80c stack you win 72c*equity and loose 80c*-equity. That's no fun.
minraising is pre is fine so long as the rake isnt fkn redic, which it is till about 1/2
