Go Hawks!
I'd like to see us trade down out of the first and acquire more picks. We need lots of help.
If we do pick someone I'd prefer the best available lineman on either side of the ball.
For sentimental reasons I'd like to see us draft Jake Locker, but logically I don't think we should. I think he has the chance to be truly great for someone, but he'll be best suited to end up on a team where he can ride the bench for a year or two to work on his play in the pocket and reading defenses. Also the publics expectations around here would be unfair and almost impossible to live up to. Of course if he did get drafted here, and if he did enjoy the success that he's capable of, it would easily be the greatest sports story in the history of this region.
Panthers
Anyone but Cam Newton
Cam Newton
lol is right
All I can think about is Detroit's safety two years ago whenever I hear someone talk about them
Browns need WR, RT, DL, OLB, DB, G. They pick at #6, could go AJ Green, Patrick Peterson, Robert Quinn, trade down, who knows. Feel a whole lot better with Mike Holmgren and Tom Heckert in the FO than the previous yahoos.
I second the LolCamNewton. He's got Jamarcus Russell written all over him. I'm high on Jake Locker, think he could be a solid player some day but not elite.
Oh yeah, and blow me Roger Goodell.
I like Dareus, Green, and Peterson, although it looks like Dareus almost certainly won't be there, Green probably won't be there, and Peterson... who knows. I'm always open to trading down as well. Quinn is way too much of a risk at #6 IMO, between the tumor and missing his senior year of school.
Give Colt every conveivable chance to be successful and reevaluate next year. I'm sure Holmgren will draft a pet project QB in the later rounds, but if the season tanks, maybe we'll be in a spot to draft a better one next year.
Broncos
Dareus, Peterson, Miller, Bowers
Dareus, Fairley (god I hope not)
I don't like Cam but I think he's actually going to be good.
*golf clap* for the Lions after last year's finish
I have full confidence Bill Belichick will deliver yet another outstanding draft class despite picking a bunch of nobodies.
also F cam newton. smiling son of a bitch.
I hear the Patriots want LB Nate Irving from NC State. If you guys get him you'll love him. So much f'n heart.
I've been thinking about this a little bit. Brady is 33. Belichick is 59. The window can't get anymore open than this for the Pats. Reload for the stretch run of Brady's and Belichick's careers?
Sooner or later they are going to have to stop trading picks and assets to pick up future picks. Don't get me wrong-- I think it's an absolutely phenomenal strategy, but between the labor and thus 2012 draft uncertainty, and the fact that the 2 main pieces there are getting older, maybe it's time to cash in all their picks this year. Who knows. Maybe they'll get a discount on future draft picks and come up with 3 first rounders next year or something. Pretty much nothing would surprise me in the wacky current-day NFL.
My wet dream is this
Dareus
Peterson
Newton
Green
Gabbert
6th pick traded to Houston, they take VON FUCKING MILLER
otherwise I'll take Robert Quinn, Aldon Smith, or whoever else can help the pass rush off the edge at the 11th pick
It's a deep draft for d-lineman Spenda, I wouldn't worry too much. Cameron Jordan is rising and looks like a stud. Someone will drop too, happens every year. Texans in a 3-4?
Chiefs
I hope they trade up for Julio Jones
Some OT, Nate Solder or Gabe Carimi? Akeem Ayers at LB mebee. TBH I don't really like Cassel but don't see a QB who is worth it @ pick 21.
Yes lol Cam Newton
How bout those lions, u guys have a Monday night game!
Eagles
needs:
1 CB
1A right side of offensive line
3 DL
Oh, and they need linebackers, but it goes against team philosophy to use high picks or spend a lot of cash on linebackers, so they probably won't take one before the 4th round.
I think they would like to move up to take one of the top 2-3 corners, but that will be difficult. So instead, they'll move up to take a defensive end that they have targeted who is no better than 4-5 other defensive ends that will be available later (sorta like Graham last year), go CB/OL in 2nd/3rd rounds and sign a free agent at one of those spots as well.
The Eagles got fucked on the lockout because a lot of teams would potentially be interested in Kolb, especially with Locker not coming out, and they can't trade him. I happen to think Kolb's stock will only drop the longer he stays on the Eagles.
I think Newton will be good.
I'd say that rollout in the top 5 is a pretty bad scenario for the Browns. I'd be torn between Von Miller and Julio Jones.
Anyway, one problem I've noticed on team message boards is that trade proposals are almost always one-sided in favor of the team covered by the board. When dealing with draft picks it's somewhat mitigated because there is at least some standard, i.e. the draft pick value chart, although I have my own concerns about that and the effect is still there.
How about a little negotiating?
Offer:
From Cleveland:
#6 pick
From Houston:
#11 pick
#42 pick
From this chart Texans are giving like an extra 4th in value from that deal, toss in a 5th and we got a deal

Packers.
Looking for some good O-lineman, DEs, RBs, pretty solid all around.
I personally do this trade if the board comes off as proposed and that was the best offer on the table (from all teams).
I'm hoping that both QBs plus Dareus and Miller come off in the top 5, letting Green or Peterson fall to the Browns at 6.
Alternatively, for trade down opportunities I'd rather Gabbert fall to 6 than Miller, because there are a lot of QB-needy teams that might pay a premium to move up.
just took a look at mayock's draft: Mock Drafts 2011: Surprise, surprise: Don't be shocked if ...
and not particularly relevant to his mock per se, but I realized that picks 1-18 all arguably fill a need for the Browns.
in order taken in the mock, QB, LB/passrusher, WR, 2nd corner, RT, RG, and don't even get me started with all of the defensive linemen-- I don't even think we even have the bodies to put out there if we had to.
anyone seen these bud commercials, pick the first round perfectly and win $1,000,000!!
impossible, even if you knew trades weren't allowed
I'm just praying to God the Lions don't draft Tyron Smith. No real reason why other than I think there are better picks available and there are a lot of '2nd tier' LT's in the later round (James Carpenter comes to mind) that will have at least a year to develop under Backus (posted arguably his best season last year, gotta give him another shot..).
If they went like, Da'Quan Bowers/Robert Quinn at 13, I'd probably stand up and applaud, although I'd really like to see them trade down to the late teens, early 20s and pick up Castonzo.
J.J. Watt at 13 would also be joy-gasmic.
Other then that, I'm hoping they pick up a corner, a solid OLB, and a big, bruising back to compliment Jahvid.
Buffalo Wild Wing's tomorrow for wings, beer, and the 1st round, w00t!
Oh, I say I want Castonzo in the late 1st because he can play multiple positions (G is also a pretty large need for the Lions atm, our whole line is getting old ;() and he can learn playing next to Backus throughout next year. Also instantly improves our inside running game which is much needed, which Tyron Smith is too raw to come in and start from Day 1.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT IT'S DRAFT DAY BITCHES!!!!!!!!!
Roid, Prop bet of $5 on Castonzo going after pick 25 (i.e. late 1st as you suggested)? I have the under obv.
Draft day is prop betting extraordinaire... Anybody wanting to put an o/u line on any player I'll put $5 on just about anyone. (Shipping on Stars ldo. If anyone still has money. :P )
Yeah, this is retarded.. My friends and I have done draft pick 'em (just on paper) where we make the next pick while the team in on the clock. And even then I think the record is in the middle teens somewhere... (usually too hammered to remember.
spenda - I saw your wishlist... I'm surprised that the Texans don't seem to have much love for Amukamara. thoughts?
Oh, and techincally speaking my "team" is the Rams. I'd be surprised if we end up with anyone other than Liuget, the DT out of Illinois. Acc to Mayock, "Liuget is a winner and immediately upgrades the talent along the line for the Rams." A winner, eh? I thought he played for Illinois?
we took a college press corner last year, didn't work out well
I'm not a big fan of prince, IIRC there were a few other players in your secondary I'd rather have
didn't prince A get demolished by blackmon this year?
The stat line certainly isn't flattering "5/156 2 TD", and one of which was an 80 yd TD where Amukamara made a mistake and got served. But 5 receptions was a season low (one other game with 6, and an average near 10) for Blackmon. Does that constitute shutting down? Maybe not, but I haven't seen anyone shut down Blackmon at all... and Prince was a complete blanket on everyone else all season long.
I can certainly understand the critique.
dear nfl teams,
if you draft the ginger in the 1st or 2nd round i will hate you forever.
So far pretty much as expected. Should start getting interesting (trades, etc) soon.
Boom. Browns just traded with Atlanta, probably going for Julio Jones. Snap.
Wow, if I'm a Browns fan I'm falling off my chair happy.
Seriously.
5 picks? 5?????
This years 1st, 2nd, 4th, and next years 1st and 4th????
:O :O :O :O :O :O :O
Julio Jones better light up the scoreboard.
JAKE LOCKER LOLOMFG
O((((LLP(OOOO()O(OO sjak e locker
Prince gonna go here?
Will Quinn fall to Houston, please lord please
jj watt, wtf?
Honestly a solid pick imo.
Kid has a sick motor, strong as shit. I wish the Lions could have snapped him up someway somehow, but thats ok. He's basically going to be Vanden-Bosch Jr. given proper coaching/motivation.
Fairley + Suh + Vanden Bosch... omfg
^^^
Watt's a good pick imo.
prince what the fucking hell... fuck you cunts in your ass
Reports have Eagles taking OG Danny Watkins, didn't think it was possible for the Eagles to annoy me this year but wow.
I don't know anything about him, but I don't like reaching like that for a need. I'd have rather reached for Dalton or taken Jimmy Smith.
Better than any of those guys would have been to make the exact same deal the Pats just made with the Saints.
WHO THE F IS JON BALDWIN
JJ WATT FYEAAAH! <3 this pick so much.
Also hey Bob - how do you feel about Fairley joining Suh there on your Dline?
lololol at Titans. I thought for sure that they'd pick Fairley. Dirty player with the dirty team - made sense to me. I'm glad Fairley won't be out there trying to kill Schaub twice a year.
pretty happy with the colts picking up Castonzo. I didn't think he would be on the board that late but picking him up for Peyton's blind side is a huge win.
goin' to the draft today. anyone else gonna be there?
I read a point today that VDB is vocal and respected enough that keeping Fairley in line shouldn't be a problem and I can see that, did see that with Suh as the season wore on.
Pretty amazing d-line. Pls to sign FAs to improve secondary pls, k thks.
yes :D
The only thing that gives me slight pause is the uncertainty regarding the '12 draft.
But still very happy. I mean that is a big slide, but the difference in quality of player you find in the 20's vs 6 is more than made up for the extra 2, 4, 1, and 4, especially considering Miller, Dareus, Green, and Peterson were all off the board. That run was painful to watch.
Thoughts on the Browns then swapping firsts with the Chiefs (27, 21) for a 3rd rounder to grab Phil Taylor? I don't know much about him beyond what one would read on mock/draft/news sites. i.e. never seen him play etc.
1st trade was great. Saw a report that if Atlanta wins the superbowl the trade pick value will be a push, otherwise Browns come out ahead (purely from an unused pick value sense).
Seemed unnecessary, but maybe he was one of their last "first round guys" or something. Know nothing about him, but have heard mostly good so far.
I like how represented the Browns are ITT
Phil Taylor is a beast of a 3-4 NT run stopper
hearing he doesn't fit your scheme though
so fucking tilted eagles couldn't trade up with kolb. fucking stoppage bullshit.
also tilted we drafted a 27 year old guard even though guards have relatively low bust potential. feel like defense was the first priority this year...
Da Bears
Got a Beast OT
Screwed over the Ravens, because Front Office is lame
It's tough being a Bear fan in Packer Country...
Lions are getting better and better and better every year

I've paid 0 attention to the draft. The Steelers took a DE. I didn't like it. But then I haven't liked any of the Steelers first/second round picks until they started playing.
Smith, I can't tell if you're trying to make fun of the Lions right now, or if you're actually giving them a compliment post-Millen...
If you're trying to insult them, can't wait for them to smash Chicago's ass on National Television. :D
Good luck defending Calvin Johson, Jahvid Best, Pettigrew, Burleson, Leshoure, Young.
Good luck blocking Suh, Williams, Vanden-Nazi, Avril, Fairley. Who needs a back 7?

Who is your team that's so good that you scorn the wideouts of the Lions?
Who is Shane Vereen?
Sick first name.
So everyone knows I'm a Browns fan and they will always be my #1 team, but over the years I've also developed an affinity for the Patriots. It would be easy to call me a front-runner or whatever but it's really not the case (still don't like the Lakers, Yankees, etc) and it has a lot more to do with how they run their organization and that starts with the draft. I'm not sure whether I want to say Belichick is a genius or he is just taking advantage of other teams' momentary lapses of judgement; it's probably a combination of both.
Some examples just from this draft:
Their #17 overall pick (which easily could have been a top 10 or top 5 selection, lol raiders) came from an aging defensive lineman who wanted a massive retiremente contract.
They trade down from the #28 pick, which is used by NO on a running back, the Pats select a running back with the pick they get in the second round, presumably a bit of a downgrade from a guy like Ingram. For their trouble? A future first round pick of course.
They pick possibly a second shutdown corner (that should be scary for AFC teams) at #33, which they got from Carolina for their 3rd rounder last year. Yeah, nobody could have foresaw the Panthers picking first overall, but they could have won the Super Bowl and it would still be a good trade for the Pats.
In the 3rd round, they pick arguably the best pure passer in the draft, a value in and of itself, but when you consider they got the pick (or one of them) by trading a 34 year old malcontent wide receiver it makes it even more hilarious. Now they can groom a high level backup QB in the short-term, and when the time comes he can be the heir to Brady or they can trade him for some more high picks.
The Pats also trade up a lot more than people realize, presumably targetting specific players that fit their schemes and personality profiles etc. But when they trade up they are giving up mid-late round picks; when they trade down they are picking up 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounders.
It's all so brilliant.
I'll add that it seems like the only team that ever gets the best of the Pats in trades is the Packers.
And Tom Brady is really good looking
