POKER SOFTWARE HELP??

Hi,

I'm not really sure if i am in the right catogory for what i'd like find out about here but what the hay :D

In this post i will be taling about Hold'em Manager,

Is there anyone who can help me with this program mainly just in the VPIP-PFR area?.

When im playing poker online using my HEM and the HUD comes up im having trouble getting a good read on what my opponents playing style is due to VPIP=PFR stats.

As a example recently ive been playing with players who's VPIP is lets say:
VPIP: 40+/PFR: 6.
Another type of player ive been playing is,
VPIP: 30-35/PFR: 10
And another is
VPIP:20-25/PFR:15-20

Now what types of players are these?

I clearly understand someones stats with a VPIP of around 10-15 and a PFR of 10 and below, They are obviously very tight player who usually tend to only play strong hands, and someone with VPIP of 50+ and PFR 0 this player is considered very loose who never raises therefore his hand range is pretty much any 2 cards.

The help im looking for here is understanding the stats in VPIP and PFR sort of in the examples above,
I come across these players all the time and i can tell if there pretty lost or tight but id like a more briefed tip on this if anyone can help

If you don't already have it, download Poker Stove. Right now. It's free.

Spend a few minutes experimenting with the numbers. You can see what 5%, 10%, 20%, etc. of hands looks like. This will help you understand VPIP/PFR stats better. It's also extremely useful for measuring the equity of ranges against each other.

You also have to consider whether these stats are for 6max or full ring. For example an 18 PFR at full ring is loose and aggressive but at 6max it is a standard TAGG stat.

I think those generalizations are less useful if you don't have a good idea of what the stats actually mean in terms of specific hand ranges.

^^^I agree. It does no good to know that 18% is LAG or TAG unless you know what ranges those two will open with at various positions.
HEM has some good information on their forums that will help you learn to use it.
Poker stove is also a must to help you learn hand ranges and equity in various situations that you'll find yourself in.

I'm assuming these are 6-max stats because they would be high for full ring.

40/6 - is someone that is loose passive fish - typically limping a lot of pots, has a huge gap which means hes calling way more than raising. Typical calling station - raise him to isolate and c-bet/value town - never bluff this player.

30-35/10 - is someone that still calls too much - could be a lagtard if he's flatting in position and has high aggression post flop otherwise he's just like the 40/6 guy.

25/20 -is a tag reg who is positionally aware, probably the hardest of the 3 to make any money off of.

Agree with the others - pokerstove is your friend.

Also with your HM software comes an app called leakbuster. They have a hud include in the software that is automatically setup with the right information for making your preflop and postflop decisions i use it still to this day. It's pretty cool and you can learn alot about your stats and how to use them properly with this program and HM.

These numbers are not uncommon at micro FR. For FR i would add

12/8 - plays very simple ABC poker. Tends to be tight passive. Easiest probably to play against. Go to town stealing his blinds, Cbetting him IP. If you are going to bluff this is your target (not that u need to bluff at the micros. Limit it to 2barreling on appropriate boards). Be wary of his EP play and when he wakes up and starts betting/raising.
