fold to a mini 3bet , is my reasoning correct?

Villian 3bets 3.8% over 1.7k ( btw hes 22/7 with a 7% blind steal, that makes him passive right?)


I Folded here , then ran it through pokerstove .

3.8% = TT+, AQs+, AKo so ...

This is a fold ? At this moment, i havent checked to see if there is a 3bet sizing tell that villian subscribes to.

it's not a min 3b. Pot size raise would be 0.21, so 0.18 is pretty close (lays pot odds of 30.7% instead of 33.3%).

not only you don't have the odds to call, but also your hand plays badly against this range (dominated most of the time).

and on the premise that you don't want to call a 3b OOP, it means you would have to 4b to continue. Do you really want to do that with KQo?

if it actually was a mini 3b it wouldn't be a fold but this is 3x...

Ok ,thanks for the 3 bet sizing info . Glad I posted this. My 3betting has been too high then.

I thought a 3 bet had to be high enough to deny decent set-mining odds.

So in this hand, it would have been $0.12 to call , and the BTN has $2.08 so if i flatted 20.8/ 0.12= 17.33 /1 .

In the hand above , If I had 99 (or any pair for that matter) . would is be ok to flat ?

People always say don't set mine OOP, but I still do it if vs fish or if I have a read that opp is capable of stacking off with TP. It seems to work. Don't do it vs nits or taggs. Here he 3b on the smaller side so there remains 17+ times your call in the effective stacks. If he had made a pot sized raise to 0.21, there would only be 13.7 times your call in the stacks, and you are OOP so it would be a bit tight for set mining but might still be OK depending on opps tendencies.

I would 3 bet to 18 and i didnt realise that was small how do you figure this out pot is 9 pot size raise=21? whats the correlation. sorry I should change my name to DUMBass.

When it is your turn to play, total pot is 0.09, and it would cost you 0.06 to just call. So a pot sized raise is a raise to 0.09+2*0.06=0.21, and it lays 33.33% (2:1) pot odds for your opp to call.
