Donk betting fun
I was thinking about donk betting and when and why we might use it and came up with a couple ideas. These are spots where you are heads-up.
First is flush draws, if I'm 4 to a flush on the flop I would mostly donk bet because if I check-call and I miss my draw I'm basically telling him I'm on a draw and will get called down light. If called and I miss on the turn I can still barrel a lot of cards and still have outs.
Middle pair or TPWK - with these hands Donking is more for pot control you can still barrel the turn and then check-call your medium hand on the river which often times induces a bluff from busted straight or flush draws.
Check raising in either one of those spots seems like I'm escalating the pot too quickly for my hand strength.
So draws and medium hands, I guess we also should then include made hands I'm not sure with what frequency though as it doesn't really come up that often where your calling OOP. mostly probably from the blinds.
Comments....??? Am I on the right track with this????

wouldn't donk betting weak made hands and flush draws, make your range quite weak.
if you had 44 in big blind, nit UTG raises and flop comes 349 and you donk bet, his range consists of QQ,KK,AA which could easily raise you and AK probably fold and JJ,1010 just call.

You have a range, your opponent has a range, you're out of position, and you have the option to bet. Seems like a good starting place.

I have 2 reasons to donkbet:
1. to scare out weak player
2. to force agressive player to reraise me
Me, personally, can't stand being donkbet on flop from unknow, I always at least minraise him to see what he is up to.

This thread gave me an idea. I'm going to play some NL10 and just donk bet and the shit out of everybody. Kind of spewy, but the chat abuse should be worth it :P
