Bankroll management advice please and bonus question

Hello All,

I was not sure where to put this decided to put it here (and in the Online Poker Room's section different name there). I am thinking about taking advantage of the Carbon Poker deposit bonus. Initial deposit will be 600. I want to take full advantage of the bonus since it does not expire. Is the FTR bonus still active?

I was wondering if I should start grinding $10 NL till my BR is @ 1K (40 buy in's) then start playing $25 NL. Or if I should start playing $25 NL right from the get go (20 buy in BR management) .

In the past I have been very bad at bankroll management as a result busted by playing all of my BR in one table. I want to deposit and work on my BRM this time. I was looking around for a new site to deposit in to get a bonus from. Any advice would be appreciated (please don't criticize my lack of BR management I know it was stupid :( and I won't play out of my BR this time)

Anybody who plays at Carbon poker at $10 and $25 NL please reply with site and limits review (if allowed) (I have read the review of Carbon Poker by FTR and the user review comments but more information would be appreciated for those limits) information from the users seems to be out of date and newer review doesn't contain much information

2) You want rakeback. Do not sign up through an affiliate who does not offer rakeback, and pick a reputable rakeback provider.
3) Be sure that you can beat the lowest stakes before playing 10NL and 25NL.

Thanks daviddem I have read the BRM 101 and found Spoons Quick-Fix about BRM and Rake for noobs post after I posted this. Just wondering if I should take the ultra conservative 40 Buy in bank roll management approach or stick with the normal 20 buy in's.

I certainly wouldn't start at 25NL with 20BI without being sure that I can consistently beat 10NL.

So yes start at 10NL and once you have won 20 buy ins at 10NL take a shot at 25NL. Give yourself a stop loss at each level, and move down if you reach it.

i'd reccommend starting at 10nl and getting in IRC unless you have experience from previous online pokerings

I have previous online poker experience. Just need to work on my bank roll management. gotta slap myself in the face if I buy in out of my bankroll.. lol

Unless you're depositing money that you have made playing table poker or on other sites - or if your financial situation is such that $600 isn't a lot of money, I would recommend you start with a much smaller deposit. The bonus will be near impossible to clear below 50NL anyway unless you can 12+ table consistently for 20+ hours a week.

If you had BRM problems in the past and your initial deposit is going to be $600, consider that deposit your "zero". If you drop below $600 at the end of a given session, even if it is just 1bb, move down to 5NL until you have your zero + 2 buy-ins and start over. Every 4 or 5 buyins move your "zero" up and repeat.

Although this exercise is completely unnecessary with such a large BR for the stakes youre looking to play, it will help with your BRM discipline if you can stick to it. Once you have confidence that BRM is no longer an issue, you can move to standard BRM practices.

So let me get this straight $600 = $0.00 so -1BB/session ~$590 ending that session move down to $5NL till my BR is back to ~$600? What if my first session I ended @~$700? Do I zero it again and if I loose 1bb move down to $5 NL?

Rake back is confusing. Do you have to sign up through the rake back site to get rake back? raketherake ~35% rake back for Carbon poker. Also Carbon poker and FTR says the deposit bonus never expire but rake the rake says this:

Okay. I am officially confused about the bonus. FTR website is saying one thing but here is what carbon poker said.

Sometimes it is best to go straight to the source for info on bonuses and rake back. You can call, live chat or e-mail the sites you are interested in and ask them for their best offer on bonuses and rake back. You DON'T have to go though rake back sites most of the time. They want you to deposit with them and they can do the rake back for you.
