100nl AKo weird spot

I played a very unusual hand vs MK_Ruthless, a good SSNL reg who's up 25k over 300k hands. during this session he's been winning all the big pots as well as 3betting many of my LP opens. we've played before but never tangled enough to create a lasting dynamic. he's probably noticed I've been 3betting a lot this session, but I haven't shown down non legit hands in big pots. his flop c/r is 17% over ~500 hands, fold to 3bet is about 75%

this hand happened towards the end of the session.

his flop c/r reps almost nothing, and this looks like a good board for me to cbet. I don't think there are a lot of Jx hands in his range given he flatted my 3bet OOP, and he probably slowplays his flopped sets sometimes since this board looks good for me to barrel twice. so I decided to float and see if he'd shut down on the turn. **I used my timebank before I called the flop c/r.**

when he checks the turn and shoves the river I'm really confused. If he turned a draw I'd expect him to shove the turn.. would he play KQ this way?

meh its a weird line but kinda looks strong, i mean if he was bluffing some weird air he would like always bluff at this turn cuz ur AJ/QQ or whatever doesnt really like it.

main thing is i think when his MP calls 3bet oop its a pretty strong range, he can have JJ for instance and play it weird cuz he might think u would hate the turn if u had QQ and if u had KK then he's pwned so he wants to see ur reaction. i dont think calling this flop CR is the best idea since he's prob never doing it with a hand like 88-TT

also if you're calling the flop but then not value betting TPTK on the turn it seems silly to call?

so u call a checkraise w/ a PSB behind, catch the best possible card, and dont want to put the last bet in? ridiculous spew

If he's as good as OP says, he's probably even capable of playing AJ this way too.

bspahn: i don't think he has 88-TT or JJ; JJ has too many blockers for me to be able to call a c/r often, and 88-TT c/c this board since a c/r would turn them into a bluff (this is 100nl after all)

nuts: no doubt you're right that folding with <1PSB behind is bad; my reasoning for considering a fold is that i think his range after the flop c/r is AJ/(25% 33/JJ, 100% 77), QQ+/air. I also expect his bluffs to ship on the turn since it is a scary card to my perceived calling range to his flop raise.

geni/griff: i like b/c turn since it increases the likelihood i get his stack with KQ/AJ/QQ.

I think check the flop is way better here.

also, u chimed in later in the thread saying he might have AJ+ QQ+ set and that obviously conflicts with your earlier read of 'hes repping nothing'

in the heat of the moment I didn't think AJ/QQ were in his range; only after they were mentioned by others did i consider them possibly in villains range. my experience in these games tells me that he rarely flats AJs OOP and almost always 4bets QQ.

that leaves KQ turned into a bluff on the flop as the primary made hand that i beat. when i said his flop c/r reps nothing i meant that there seemed to be relatively few value hands in his range. i'm still convinced i should've called this river though it seemed like I was holding a bluffcatcher at the time (didn't think of KQ until I reviewed this hand).

in retrospect i like check>3bet>call for my flop options.

As played I think u have to call.(I would have put it in on the turn)JJ,QQ,KQ, I think are his most likley holdings. And I really think he has QQ here. Thats why he checked the turn, when you dont bet easy shove on river for him.

He doesn't rep nothing. You will see 77 and JJ a lot here from villains at 100NL. As others have said after calling the flop and ginning the turn you HAVE to call this river.

I really think it's read dependent. But yeah I'd fold on the flop.
