tough preflop all-in call

I was playing very tight as I had not been dealt a decent hand in a while, co off was a nit reg. running about 6/6, and the button was playing about 20% of his hands. (not sure exact numbers as he took off right away) I thought my best option here would be to put in a decent 3-bet so that I could take the pot right there or know where I was at on the flop.I raised 4x co off folds button goes all in...I stall for 40 seconds thinking he can't be putting me on a bluff could he?Does he have the AA,KK ? 1 sec left to act and I'm think fold the whole time but for whatever reason I hit call.Poor call or are you calling here every time with P/Q's ?Theses are the scenario's hands that have kept me from being a winning player.Somtimes we go against are better judgments, Greed?

happend to me a lot... many will say that you must be willing to go broke with QQ+ and AKs.... some say dont go all-in preflorp... i go only KK+ and AKs... its up to you to decide

I really do feel as though a fold was the proper play here..Due to conditions, but I pulled a donk move?
I just don't believe he couldn't have taken me serious here,But then he shows up with a coin flip so who knows?Thats why I posted here.

i did rreally donk moves.... that is a risk taken... i dont think you have to blame yourself... just that how poker works :)

I guess I was just thinking he could not of pulled off that with a worse hand giving his stats and my image at the time...Then I call anyways?PokerStove gives me 56% equity against AK But only 18% VS KK,AA So IF I felt he had AA,KK then is was a Donk move by me.Interested to hear what others have to say on this.

Your hand against AK,KK+: 39.9% equity: still a fold
Your hand against AK,JJ+: 47.4%: very close to break even. He has 6 combos of JJ and 1 of QQ, 16 combos of AK, 6 of AA and 6 of KK. Total 34 combos, 7 of which you are a big favorite against. That's 20% of his combos. So his hand has to be something other than KK+,AK only 20% of the time for your call to be profitable. This is not unlikely at 2NL.

So if you think he is capable of doing that with only one or two hands other than AK,KK+, it's a call. Not an easy question to answer, it depends a lot on your reads on your opponent. At 2NL some people do that (call/raising) with their small/medium pairs or very strong hands and even sometimes as a bluff with a mediocre hand or because they are tilting. Some do it only with AA. Some do it only with their weaker hands because they always raise or reraise their strong hands to start with.

Without more information, I don't think I let go of my QQ in this spot unless I have a strong read that he only does it with KK+,AK.

FWIW, against AK, your equity is 56%, which is more than the 45.7% pot odds. In other words, if you KNOW he has AK, you have to call.

There are two other factors to this hand also...
1.I was a little thrown off by him not re raising the co? Part of why I called
2.I have no other reads outside of PT stats on him cause I was looking at the Grinderschool website,thinking about joining.That site already has me for -EV lol.

I think 200bb+ deep I let go of this. I don't think he does this with JJ or AQ very often, so I'd put him on QQ+ AK and laugh at him as I fold.

Yeah, I might well change my mind on this one. The guys who do that with smaller pairs or AQ type of hands tend to be the short stacked ones. With a double stack it's more often than not going to be AA or KK. Even with AK it's a pretty donkish move with 200bb, he'd be much better off calling and try to flop an A or K.

I guess much depends on how this guy got double stacked in the first place. Did he do something crazy pre flop and get lucky? If so, this might edge towards a call, but we really have to be able to give him JJ or AQ to even consider calling. I think shoving AK like this is a donk move, the only hand that can call that he's not crushed by is QQ, and he's still the dog end of a flip. He gets everything that he dominates to fold. Even with hero calling and paying him off 200bb, I can't see this move being profitable long term. Hero has equal chance of having QQ as he does KK/AA, there's six combos of QQ, and three each of KK and AA facing villain's AK, and this shove is always getting called by KK and AA, sometimes getting called by QQ and AK, and never getting called by any non-donk by anything worse.

All the more reason to fold. Punish his shove by only letting his AK race 200bb deep against KK and AA.
