This thread has so much potential. Two girl songs.
Ingrid Michaelson - Corner of your heat
Sarah Mclachlan - Angel
Lady Gaga - Telephone
links please :)
Angel should not be a guilty pleasure. Though it is about some very guilty pleasures.

Xtian hymns. Even though superstition fucks shit up, Xtianity does have some pretty great indigenous music
Scene from Junebug

I guess it's only a guilty pleasure inasmuch as people tend to not realize that good music is good music, and confuse themselves into thinking that I can't be an atheist if I like some superstitious music. I don't like being accused of secretly believing in Sky Daddy
And Angel is probably top 20 best songs of all time

you must also hate the superb film o brother where art thou
Anything by Shakira :(
Easily one of my top 10 favorite movies. "Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere!"Quote:

since we're on the oh brother where are thou stuff, I heard the other day that Jimi Hendrix referenced selling his soul to the devil. Now I understand the movie took place before his time so I dug up this guy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_...%28musician%29
His name in the movie was Tommy Johnson, so I guess this was supposed to be him?
Edit: more digging leads me to this
The character of Tommy Johnson is based on famed blues guitarist of the same name who, according to folk legend, sold his soul to the Devil at the crossroads in exchange for his prodigious talent. Robert Johnson, another bluesman and a contemporary of Tommy's (but no relation), borrowed the legend and wrote a song about it (and so the soul-selling legend was subsequently, wrongly, attributed to Robert Johnson).

To keep us on track, not sure if this counts, but

gotta say this song gets stuck in my head, esp. the ra---ra----a-a-a-a opening

Also I like Sara Mclachlan and Adia is my favorite from her.
I also have a vagina.
Not a guilty pleasure at all, but I LOVE Robert Johnson's music. I just wish there was more of it that got recorded.
For guilty pleasures, I can't think of the titles but there are at least a few Justin Timberlake songs that I like. He is also great on SNL and was just about the only funny part of Love Guru. But it's Justin Timberlake...<shudder>
lol this plus most tegan & sara songsQuote:

I've always liked this song for some reason.

Also, what song is the intro part of "Good Morning" - Chamillionaire taken from, if one at all?
re: Angel. 4 years ago next month I had to put my dog down. This was the 1st song on the radio when I got in the car to go home. Funny how a song can incite so much emotion so long after an event you associate it with.
And I love Gaga (But I still wont let my 10 year old daughter watch the Paparazzi video. Cuz I say so! :) )

A little trivia: The actor didn't know that he was supposed to sing that song until a week before they were scheduled to film it, and he didn't know how to sing. He immediately went gung ho into lessons, and then a week later sang like that
IMO, he was able to learn so quickly due what seems to be the fact that singing doesn't have so much to do with 'having a good voice', but with knowing how to project your voice smoothly, and that's a skill actors learn.
this is pretty bad, haha.

hint: When person A says a song is a guilty pleasure, then person B reassures person A strongly that his song isn't a guilty pleasure at all, person B is basically a huge faggot.
Also I don't have any super egregious guilty pleasures with music, maybe Iron Maiden or DEVO.
oh and of course:
