I've been looking at my stats and it seems I have a positive flow of chips in my direction in all positions except the blinds. Is it realistic to expect to make money in these positions? Do the majority of winning players tend to? Or should I just be trying to minimise my losses here and be happy with that.
Your goal is to make money after you add back the blinds.

standard answer - all good players lose moneys from sb and bb in FR and 6-max, the great may breakeven in the sb in 6-max.Quote:

Spend some time doing the math on what the blinds will cost you and then see if you are actually making money or would be better just folding the blinds without looking at your cards, You can also look at the column that says 'Difference without the blinds" which should be green.
Wow, I'd be better off folding the SB but do much better out of the big blind.
Out of 884 sb @ 2c each, I lost $22.61. But in the BB out of 889 @ 5c each I only lost $5.12.
Does that mean I attempt to steel way too much from the sb? Or at less than 1k hands each do I assume too small a sample size to judge?
Post your stats, and check your Steal attempts and success's. At $50NL and up I would steal a ton, but where guys are calling so much probably not. I would assume that at the micro's you probably don't get much chance to steal blinds from SB or BTN since everyone want's to play.

bb stats look good - don't go changing, it ain't broken.
sb stats look arse. Stop putting money in from the small blinds with crap cards. The costs add up. You'll be winning the occasional small pot and losing the big ones. Position is key. If you wouldn't limp behind from the button then don't complete those same cards in the small blind. Don't be calling raises from the small blind with cards you wouldn't be calling these same raises with from the button. Never cold-call 3bets from the small blind. Probably steal less from the small blind too cos you suck at playing poker out of position with a wide range against a wide range (probably, no offence intended!)
last 130k (two weeks) hands of FR as i moved from 25nl through to 100nl and i'm running -20bb/100 from the sb and -40bb/100 from the bb. I'm winning at a fairly decent clip over that same sample. Losing from the blinds is normal, just keep an eye on how much.
To be honest, I think most players lose money in the blinds. As long as you're winning overall, I'd say you're fine.
