Figured I keep a blog about my SNE chase to help me keep track. I just have to get unlazy and actually update the blog. I will try to update this weekly with w/e information I find relevant.

My plan is to get this within 50 weeks, leaving 2 weeks for vaca/sick days. Which roughly means ~2857VPP a day.

Currently I am at 25,250 VPP. I barely played this fri/sat due to hanging out so I'm gonna do a bit of catching up during the week. Shouldn't be too tough.

I will be doing 50NL/100NL 6max to achieve this. I started the first week with all 50NL games just to make sure I am capable of grinding the hours w/ out going insane, which I was. So this weekend I started adding 100NL tables. I will probably do 2/3-3/4 50NL and 1/4-1/3 100NL. That is roughly around a little less than 40 hrs a week. My schedule right now is 40hrs/week broken down into different hour sessions ranging from 1-4hrs. I don't plan on ever going above 4 hrs.

The main goal is SNE. If I end up on the positive for the year, that would be awesome too but I would not mind breaking even.

Been receiving less VPP/hand than I expected but I was told from others that it was the case usually in the beginning and end of the year. Hopefully it goes up a slight bit. Def off to a good start and should make the inevitable downswing around the corner easier to cope with.

Fudge me, stuffs came up today and I don't think I will be putting in any hands, maybe an hour or two later on tonight if i get a chance. Which leaves 14,750VPP to get between Tues-Fri. I shall not make any plans for fri night so i can play catch up, since I'm gonna be busy today. I roughly get a little over 500VPP/hr so thats 30 hrs or so. I really don't wanna fall behind on my weekly pace.

I'll be following this as well. GOGOGO.

Good news: Last night got home around 12:30am and put in 3 hrs of hands. I've never really grinded that late before. It was not as bad as i always imagined it to be. Not as many tables running as during the day but overall was not too bad of an experience. Also updated HEM to beta 7 (to see the new VPP rates) and I am getting about .26VPP/hand which is a good thing.

Bad news: Internet is being all spazzy today. I can barely stay connected to pokerstars so didn't play any hands at all. I'm hoping it fixes up by late night or something. Currently I just leech off wireless from the landlord's internet (with permission ofcourse! WEP enabled). After today and a few times in the past, I think it is too costly to allow this to continue so I called up Time Warner and ordered cable internet for myself. I have been just sitting home watching Lord of the Rings all day during prime grinding hrs with 200K+ players online =(

The cable guy is suppose to be here Saturday afternoon. Hopefully until then it does not continue like this or else I will really be behind pace and have to grind out something like 8 hrs a day for a week straight.

January was a failure in terms of VPP rate. I knew I would be acquiring VPPs slower the first 6 months than the last 6 months but not thisss much slower. It is mostly because of my ill preparedness.

First thing is first. I need to post on this blog more often, not only when I have good news. It then just because a thread to show off results where as posting here during the rough patches would be the best usage of even having a blog. So 1st goal is to post more here about nething and everything that is dealing with my grind.

With that said, SNE is a lot harder than I imagined. It really gets to you mentally to do 40 hrs a week of mass tabling. Just putting in that much volume is hard enough but looking at results is just pure stupidity. Results of individual sessions or even daily results are quite irrelevant to someone that puts in as much volume as I am. The main reason my VPPs lacked so much was because I was reluctant to grind when the downswing occurred. After awhile I realized how stupid it was to stop playing due to that. Now I do not look at my cashier anymore. I don't plan on looking at it more than maybe once a week or so or when I have to withdraw.

I need to make a schedule and stick to it instead of putting in random hrs throughout the day after waking up 3pm earliest. I'm starting to feel like my days are going by wasted. The volume I'm putting in now, I can easily do this while maintaining some kind of job. Unless I'm going for SNE, I think it wud be a life +EV choice to get some kind of job for side income, be it part time or actually using my bachelor's degree and getting a full time job.

January basically hit me with the realities of trying to chase SNE. The hrs, mental toughness, and sheer amount of determination required is insane. Does this mean I plan on giving up, especially since I missed Jan by 30K VPP? fuck no.

The post really put things in perspective and gave me the extra boost of motivation I needed. I will hit the tables again hard starting tomorrow and lets see how Feb goes for me. End of Feb I will recalculate my VPP requirements and pace and plan accordingly with a 10 month plan.

On a sidenote: I justttt discovered the euro tables! With the no exchange rate fees, I think it is an awesome opportunity. In my experience so far (which is not much), the euro tables seem to be softer than the regular tables. Also, €1 in rake yields 8VPP while $1 in rake yields 5.5VPP. Thats a 1.45X difference! its hugeeee. Too bad you cant find enough euro tables running to do 24 tables but mixing in some euro tables has definitely helped me increase me VPP/hand rate. With this new discovery, I can achieve 20kVPP/week goal with less than 40 hrs of playing a week! :thumbs up:
