My friend says he couldn't live without Vlingo - Voice recognition app.
If youre looking for games, labyrinth 2 and doodle jump are really good.
Can also go with TWI (texting while intoxicated) FML (F my life) which are both free if you like the funnies. Someecards is really funny too and its only .99.

Next year, WinMo7 will be making an appearance. People who have seen that OS beyond closed doors under NDA's have commented about it using words like "mindblowing" and "unbelievable", so the start of the next decade will be quite interesting in regard to smartphones.
Just got one too. *VERY* interested in this thread.
Was on the fence. Picked the iphone because the droid is fucking annoying to use. Yeah, it can do more, but it's not nearly as ergonomically comfortable in my hand or as intuitive to use.Quote:

Oh, sorry. No, I wasn't tied to a network. My 2-year contract with TMobile was already up and I was looking at all the options available to me.
It was either Verizon with the Droid or ATT with the iphone 3GS. The "larger" coverage doesn't really affect me, since I don't think I'll be using my phone that much outside of Houston.
The Droid is a lot heavier, and it's non-screen keyboard is annoying as hell to use. It's a good concept (beat the iphone at everything; try to make your strengths the iphone's weaknesses), I just don't think it's very well executed.
I could have sworn there was a way for you to say into you iphone "from location A to location B' and for it to use googlemaps to then find you directions. Anyone know how to do that?
Pandora's the first app that comes to my mind. I don't wanna link away from FTR, but OOT has a pretty big iPhone thread (in case FTR doesn't have a very large iPhone population).

The Android Market doesn't have anywhere near the amount of apps the iPhone has. The Droid is a sick phone...but iPhone is definitely better. However, Verizon > AT&T, and the iPhone will be coming to Verizon this year in 4G so...stick it out with Verizon.
Some freebies I've downloaded:
SHOUTcast radio (a multitude of AOL streaming internet radio stations - awesome)
CBC Radio (CBC 1, 2 & 3)
The Atlantic
MSNBC
Time
Huff Po
Virtual Zippo Lighter (fun)
iHandy Level
Shazam (music recognition - listen and identify song)
Lightsaber Unleashed (a must for Xianti)
Weather Eye (The Weather Network)
This one's cool. And so is RulerPhone. They work well, but the need comes up only on occasion.Quote:

I have the droid now, but I was wondering if anything like this is being sold for iPhone or anything else:
I want a car device that clings to my windshield, with a wire running down to the cigarette lighter, wherein I can place the phone and it will charge and also allow me to use it semi-hands-free in the car. Basically a docking station like they make for the home, but for the car instead. As a bonus it would be cool if it also had the FM transmitter so u can listen to music through your stereo.
I went to verizon and all they had was this thing that clings to the windshield and holds the phone, but its just a piece of plastic, theres nothing else to it.
something like this:

?
I just have a regular iphone holder and I just plug it into a regular charger and run an audio cable to the car stereo.
