I've seen a recent post about why it is bad to post in MP. But then the author went on about waiting an orbit before entering the game. I did not get the idea there. Could someone please elaborate about "blind posting strategy"? Or if this has been done before, link to the thread?
The math whizzes can elaborate more but basically if you post in MP your pissing away a ton of money over time.
why would you do this at all, ever?
think of paying blinds as paying for a set amount of hands. for 1.5 bbs, you get to see 9 hands (fr obv). If you post earlier like say, utg, then you're paying 1bb for 1 hand, and dont get the benefit of playing any hands in position
There was an idea I haven't heard in a long time, where you would watch a couple orbits to get a feel for the table before you post. Basically people just wait for the big blind, it seems like it takes forever sometimes, but whatever.
In FR you would be paying 1BB for 3 hands (for MP), instead of 1.5BB for 9 hands, but it only happens the first time you sit at a table. If your average session was 100 hands, then posting early would have a less than a -1bb/100 affect on your win rate.

At 6-max you'd probably never bother posting. At FR there might be an argument for posting if you'll see enough hands.
That argument breaks down pretty quickly even if you're posting in the CO if there is any substantial chance that people will leave the table between you and the big blind before you get to post your first BB in the BB position.Quote:

Not sure why folks would want to pay more blinds. Just wait till the BB, take some notes on the table and save your money. I could see maybe... MAYBE, just maybe if its a real fishy table and youre at the CO in fr or something but in general there's no reason to pay extra blinds.
