dealing with hyper-aggro early street aggression

I hate posing these type of questions but ive really been having trouble.

You're playing hu or super shorthanded (like 4 or 3 handed) with a player who 3bets an assload (if you're using hud like 25% or greater) and cbets basically every flop. He trusts his reads and isnt afarid to put his stack in light when he thinks he's good. In terms pre, you don't really know his tendencies for 5betting. For the sake of the question lets say you can't tighten up significantly with out him adjusting (ie if you're playing hu opening only 1/3 of hands).

Now how do you guys adjust?

Here are my thoughts so far:

- Really not sure what to do with 4betting. Im going to assume he's not gonna play like a nit to 4bets so they are a good option for value but he is cbetting every flop so flatting big pairs just seems like a very good option. Then again you keep letting him see some equity which could be bad.

- I definitely need to be value raising flops with a wide range. he's probably going to shove over wayy wayy too wide and if he doesn't then i should just raise bluff every flop.

- I think floating really dry flops can be a good play cause im sure most players are going to give me enough credit.

Ugh i hate posting these threads cause their very general but i think understanding proper adjustments to this kind of play is important.

Definitely widen your 4bet value range. Probably start 4bet/calling off most all pairs, and if he's just monkey jamming light then probably 4bet your big pairs too instead of calling.

I think floating flops IP is bad vs this kind of person, since they will inevitably barrel on you lots. I think if we flop a strong draw (FD/OESD), flatting the flop and jamming over turn bets can be good vs ppl with wide ranges to the turn. Calling flop and jamming turn also looks more like a top pair kind of line, while raising flops looks more drawy to on certain boards.

the thing is pairs are extremely valuable when someone is cbetting everytime...

If he's 3betting like 30%+ of the time, i think fourbetting wide value range and some bluffs is optimal.

If its like 20-30%, I go for flatting strong hands.

Versus really aggro players the tricky part always is forming weak ranges in good spots. If the guy just cbets and c/f's the turn a lot, floating can be good. If he folds to a lot of flop raises, obviously youd want to raise flop with a weakish range, strengthening your flop flatting range. If he doesnt fold at all and is relentless, then you try 4betting some weaker hands.

Make his aggression as bad as possible by giving yourself the strongest range possible in those spots.

against some people the best thing to do is open to 4x instead of 3. also u should be shoving a ton over his cbets (overs, top pair, all draws including good gutters)

if you 4x how tight are you raising pre?

max- really ?? this shouldnt be hard to beat ....

im going to assume 30% a bit over pot, and im going to assume hes never flatting...

min raise every button, 4bet 4-15% depending on how you want to play... consider playing back with the top 40% of hands or so.

you never need to elaborately bluff postflop really if you do this and you cant avoid winning unless he has a large postflop edge on you in which case you can likely still win but consider 4betting more often...

if hes playing like a 60+ vpip oop with 30% 3bet you need to tighten up on the button, or if hes 3betting more than pot and playing like a 50%+ vpip

you can still tighten up on the button and win, but its not optimal and is more for your own peace of mind i guess

Here's what i don't understand about switching to minraising: isn't he making a big mistake but 3betting 30% of his hands? Why are we possibly stopping this with minraising? Ok maybe he'll still be an aggromonkey, but if he suddenly starts playing tighter and not 3betting as much should we revert back.

Is it that it's to valuable to be stealing the bb?

we risk 1.5 bb to win 1.5, not 2.5 bb to win 1.5, so it has to work less often.

if he plays the same range to a minraise, we make $$

yes, its valuable to steal the BB

if he folds 70% of BBs and we minraise, we freeroll. freerolling is good. stealing is valuable.
