KK in sb vrs UTG raise

At the time the villian was running 18/8/2 ish with about 67% steal over about 20 ish hands.

I didnt want to raise pre because there were no callers and villians stats suggested a reasonable player for the level. I put them on a fairly tight range and raising them now probably made it easier for them to play their hand better as they were utg and I would be oop on later streets.

On the flop the big blind was a bit of a station and i didn't want him to go away to easy. By the time the turn came which i hated a beer enduced shove which I thought looked slightly bluffy happened. I couldn't reraise anything without committing so I shoved not wanting another heart to fall. I don't consider a made flush on the turn to be a significant part of his range (AhJh), although an Ace of hearts could well be.

Raise pre, bet/3bet get it in by the flop. I really can't see any reason to complicate things.

I agree with Belt. At micro-stakes, there are plenty of players who will simply give you their chips, which means you can win consistently without going out of your way to create situations that might get you into trouble.

I have to agree with the others. The most painful lesson I've learned at the micro stakes is to stop slow playing. It never ever works to your advantage the way you think it will.

Against most/position players that would be the standard but given he seemed semi aware and tight - 3betting oop seemed to be giving him too much of a chance to play well.

His range utg will be pretty tight and my 3 bet value range is pretty much AK,KK.AA and sometimes QQ. Which means he can get away cheaply the majority of the time.

Totally fine to flat pre, 3balling looks so ridicolously strong here. You can´t flat the flop tho, depending on his cbetting habits default is prob to c/r flop 2.5ish, c/c is horribad on this board.

Your value range for raising there is AA, KK and an experienced player knows it. Unless you're going to balance with bluffs (hard cuz iz FR ldo) - I like flatting.

You need to raise the flop... iz gut flashdrawz and efrything!!!11!! - not to stop him from drawing, but because you can represent lots of draws.

But don't c/ship plz lohlz.
Even if you're BASICALLY all-in with a value c/r before the river, I'd still much rather make a standard raise. c/ship looks very strong here.

The only reason to 2b ship the flop would be to induce a hero call with 99, TT, AK high... from someone who is hero-capable.
It works against some guys... they're like "zomg, obvious draw" - *call*

Raise pre-flop, please raise pre-flop. You ONLY worry about aces, he is not folding out things he can play for set value (jj) or ak (which he may 4bet with... which is really what you want), and if he caps you are really good against that range.

I don't understand why when we have a card that CRUSHES his range that we are not getting as much money in the pot as possible. Make him make the mistake by shoving with queens, jacks or tens if he thinks you're playing that light. Otherwise you have taken initiative anyway and when that king hits and you have a set and bet into him, he will think you're aggro and 3-bet you. You are really only worried about being beaten by certain sets at that point (99, 1010, 88, jj, qq) and aces. Flop decisions will be really easy with a raise... Not necessarily best, but how I'd go about it. Set yourself up to take the maximum from him when he has queens and jacks and no overcards hit. That is really what you're hoping for. A set is also good. Just bet bet bet.

wierd I didnt even think about the 78, which could hit the BB's range quite nicely and then add FD's basically there is a lot the BB can end up overplaying even if I check raise the flop. All I saw was the FD and that it wasnt much of the utg raisers range.

Yeah my flop play was horribad and I didnt actually realise just how bad until it was pointed out. thx guys.

BTW he called with QQ which was nice, doesnt make my mistakes any smaller tho.

took a couple years out, starting to get back into it. never really put enough hands in (max 5k/month). Think some things have clicked, we'll see tho...

You played the whole hand backwards. Raise when youre ahead. Also dont play drunk.
