Mustaches vs. Cancer

Summary for 2009:

This is an eight week mustache contest that will commence on October 5th and conclude on November 29th. Each week, contestants will be required to upload photos of their mustache as proof it's existence and as a personal marketing tool for donors. Upon the completion of the eight weeks, the extremely dignified individual bringing in the most donations will be crowned as the "Noblest Mustache on Earth". Oh but wait, there's more; a second champion, "The Peoples Champion", will be the winner of an online poll. So, don't be deterred by your lack of rich friends (I'm looking at you, Chester A. Arthur).

Anybody down? The website asks that you upload a picture of your mustache weekly. Obviously try and get people you know to sponsor your mustache. It's basically a good excuse to rock a 80's style 'stache.

This is funny . My wife works for prostate cancer research and they actually run a huge campaign for the month of November that does exactly this. It's been something they have done for years and they call it Movember (mov is mustache in Australia I think). They give away razor and cmeras and all as promotional items. I haven't bought a razor in years. They are very interested in this site and thank you for the link.

fuck yeah, maybe the wife will let me grow my mustache out (all I can grow is a diiiirty trash-stache). I always try to grow mine out because I think it's hilarious looking but get stonewalled with no sex after 6-7 days of growth, and that's no good. It's hilarious and horrible at the same time, but it's for a good cause, right?

Im currently growing everything but the stache. I just dont like how it looks/feels so I shave it. But I have a serious terrorist beard growing, and Im pretty set on not shaving it until spring.

I'm guessing, and I'm no lingo expert, but the reason they call it Movember is that they have simply switched the N for an M in a cunning play on word letters/words rather than they Aussies calling it a mov........those crazy Antipodeans.... :wink:

I get the dirty 'stach too...and I can definitely be a "Sanchez" when I grow out my 'stach.

A mustache is commonly called a "mo" in Australia. Actually I thought the term "mo" was used much wider than Australia, but maybe I'm wrong.

Hence, we cleverly change "November" to "mo"-vember, or simply "Movember".

Be careful. In the UK, "mo" used be a slang term for a homosexual. The mustache will simply enforce this view.
