when to rep a flush?

if i want to improve my red-line graph, everybody keeps telling me that I have to fight for more pots and obviously the simple fact in poker is that 80% of the time you don't really have much, and when you do it tends to be like one pair or whatever. Big hands are extremely rare.

Now I know that double and triple barreling is a good thing, especially in position. I have to figure out and really want to learn when are good spots to do this and when not, sure it's great when you hit but the fact is a lot of the time you just don't hit and I lose so much money by just giving up in pots and then 3rd pair and stuff keeps beating me.

This also shows how I'm isolating a presumed fish with a wide range, in position. His fold to cbet is 49% so I know he's calling me with a wide range. I felt it was OKAY to rep a flush here, but what do you think about turn sizing? Then we get called which sucks, but the river makes things more interesting - what can we do here, we're folding out 2pr/set type hands and possibly some flushes where he only has a low card. Is this good or not, and IF you bet here what is your theory on sizing?

i'd say against my typical opponents that play you made would work almost never. i dont even call 56s oop to be in a HU pot.

I think you're raising here and c/f to any turn bet.. If you had a big FD on this flop wouldn't you want to lead the turn as well? Id say most regs would call you here with any ace

The only reason I would Consider betting flop is the bd fd we have vs this station, most of the time I check behind. If I do bet flop and don't improve on the turn I'm giving up.


And I agree with OP IOPQ's hand is a bad job at repping a flush.

preflop is pretty damn marginal

flop bet is mandatory, then give up

also why do you represent a flush by betting less than half the pot. your fold equity there is gonna be nearly zero percent

i bet 3/4 to rep flush on turn, then I probably should have give up IF i wanted to rep anything. i think if they have a lower flush on turn and they somehow dont ship it in these types of guys probably aren't folding on the river either to any bet...

I don't mind flop and turn bets, but I would shut down on the river. For one, you have sooome showdown value now with the Q. Also, I'd imagine that on this board, a big part of his turn calling range will be midpairs with a spade that probably aren't folding to a river bet and especially not one of this size.

Also I'd rather rep a flush in a spot where your range is at least wider. In this spot, you're repping the narrowest range here for value on the river. I'm not even sure what you're repping... you'd bet more with a boat, you'd bet more with the As and you might not even bet with 9s or Ts. So your sizing is repping like one value hand, some Ksx that thinks its ahead but wants to induce some light call by betting small or something.
