Pocket aces facing significant resistance on the flop

villain a 75/12/1.3 over 35 hands or so. he does start to get aggressive post-flop often but preflop he is passive as hell.

I would not fold this unless I was sure this guy only raises on the flop with 2 pair or better. since you've only played 35 hands with him, there's no way you have that strong of a read yet. and since say he's been playing aggressively post flop so far, you should shove here 100% of the time, in my opinion.

Bigger mistake to fold

iopq hit it on the head. SPR of ~4 means you should be willing to get it AI Post Flop with even the nittiest of nits.

I would shove it, I think you are ahead of his range, he can do that with FD or TPTK easily

I'm not going to be redundant and say what they said...

If they see you as uber aggressive and they have TPTK, use that to your advantage.

At low stakes a min raise usually means a big hand. Some dudes at 2p2 with a milli+ hand DB basically figured out that it usually means a str8 or better. Seeing as how a str8+ is not possible on that flop i'm not sure what they have.

Yeah, you're behind a good bit of the time here, but the pot is laying great odds. You've got plenty of equity even against most hands that have you beaten right now.

Seriously, think about all the big hands he could have, and start calculating your all-in equity against them. (Someone said pokerstove above - use it if you haven't yet.) If he range is 2 pair, huge SD/FD draws and/or big combo hands, you've still got like 40% equity. Sets are the only big problems for your hand, and his range is a lot wider than that.

the kid ended up showing a flopped set after i shoved.

is there anything I actually did wrong here/anyway i could have known he had a set or was I just doomed from the start?

You have to bet $8.25 for a chance at winning $27, $14 of which is already in the pot (nearly $18 after you "call" his raise). You can't take the pot odds on the "call," because his line is saying "I'm gettin' all the chip in by the river." But your overall pot odds are almost 19 to 8 or about 2.33 to 1. You have to win this showdown less than 31% of the time for the shove over to be profitable, and there's enough in his range for AA to win this 3 out of 10 times it happens.

Don't get results oriented and focus on THIS hand. Make the correct decision regardless of the actual outcome of the hand, and you'll profit long term.
