Buy in for 50BB. Reload at 40BB. Evaluate table conditions when you near a full-stack. Playing short stacked makes it easy to get it all in on the turn in a lot of situations, so all your decisions will be made pre-flop and on the flop. I half-stack about 50% of my NL sessions. I don't really know what I'm trying to accomplish by doing this, but according to my notes and PT stats, I make more bb/100 in NL by half-stacking than I do with a full stack. Just keep in mind that set hunting and calling raises with SCs is less effective when short-stacking.
Couldn't you get the same results by making large bets pf and the flop? Do you get better results because you have less fear of losing a lot of money?
Step1) Decide that you don't wanna learn how to play late-street poker well
Step2) Relinquish bowel control when sleeping
Step3) ...
Step4) Profit less than someone who knows how to play poker :?:
I like step 3 the best.
EDIT: Ok. I just opened up PT and did some rough calculations. According to my notes, I've only half-stacked around 34% of my NLHE sessions, not 50%. However, I'm over 8ptbb/100 starting with a half-stack and 5ptbb/100 starting out full-stacked. This is over 19,328 hands at NLHE. It's not a giant sample size, but the proof is in the pudding.
So I don't do it as often as I thought, however, the retort above proves the following statement: no matter how good you are, you get no respect when buying in for less than the max.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'll gladly take the fish label. And all I had to do was buy in for 50BB. Contrary to popular belief, there's no right or wrong way to making a profit.

and i thought being short stacked makes other players nervous of the all ins seems like theres a whole lot to learn i seem to be able to go to 2/4 cent table with 80 cents and usually before the button comes around i ve double up or im gone . wrong approach ?
There are different variations of short stack play. The basic idea is to play tighter pre-flop than your opponents, generally get it in on the flop or turn and use all-in to protect any equity you have in the pot.
Where lots of casual players get it wrong is that they're not tight or aggressive enough and won't shove when they have less then 2x pot behind.

I hate shortstack players, especially at the microlimits. I realize that most people who play at the microlimits can't play worth crap, and I get that that's why they're at the microlimits, but shortstack microlimit players are almost always morons who don't even look to play poker, they just look to play craps.
