I raise preflop, face donk bet on flop with undercards...

This player was a limper....he limped often into flops and was semi weak...
I face these donk bets often with AK, not sure how to approach it...

Villain bets $0.10, Hero ?

Sure I didn't have anything but I had a hard time believing he had something as well. I suppose he could have 33-TT in his hand, thats what I see lots of these limpers limp with preflop. He prob would have raised with JJ+ preflop. He also could have some high paint cards and think the flop didn't help me at all.

So what do these donk bets mean usually?

Do you have any reads on the villian at this point? Tight/Loose? Etc..

The biggest cue I took was that he was shortstacked and was willing to bet 1/7 of his stack...

a lot of small (1/2 pot or less) donk bets can be raised. usually villain has a hand which can't stand too much action

against weak-tight players who flat your flop raise, just give up the turn/river. they're most likely hanging onto top pair played incorrectly

I see this crap time and time again. Make a note on these fuckers. I'm generally raising these lines, because villain has just put you on 2 unpaired overs. You still have six outs and he may have nothing too. If he 3bets the flop, you can throw it away. Most times I've learned they'll either fold, to you're flop RR, or call and check the turn. So you're generally going to get a free look at the river card to hit your Ace or King. And even if you don't hit, you have position and initiative to take down the pot. Just pay attention to villain's stack size. Short-stackers will probably just shove over with top pair, so be careful.

Airles...if the opp checks the turn, you are saying to check behind to get a free look? Or do we try to use position to take it down on turn??

I'm saying you'll have the option to take a free card. There are villains who donk bet flop heads up no matter what. Most of the time they will fold to a hefty raise. If they call, you're probably beat or they're drawing without proper odds. This is where reads and board texture comes into play. There are some positives by checking behind on the turn. You get to see a free river card and you control the pot. Obviously it represents some weakness and villain may donk lead the river if you do this. Donk bets are kinda WTF but hell, poker is a game of cards, people and position and there is nothing we can do about the cards. So raise it up and get aggressive against these donking retards.

i have played alot of the .01/.02 and i think u actually have to fold and pick a better time these donkey will call with 10-7 suited hell 7-2 suited when a flop comes that low and he bets out he most likely has some sort of pair and if he is a weak enough player to limp and then call a raise with this stutff then he is most likely not a good enough player to fold a pair on that flop if u can make it to the river w

^ Another good reason to check behind on the turn.

by raising on the flop, i usually get to the river for free by checking behind the turn. most villains will check the turn to you when you show so much aggression, so a free card definitely wouldn't hurt when you're hanging around with ace king high

I would be very surprised to see a villain donk bet the flop, check the turn, and then donk bet the river again without a better hand than A high. So after you have checked behind on the turn, if you hit TPTK I think the river is an easy call/possibly a raise depending on villain, and an easy fold otherwise.

Just thought it was worth pointing out that checking behind on the turn doesn't really put you in a tough spot if villain donk bets on the river, and if you hit your A or K on the river, you could be getting extra value because of the weakness you showed on the turn.

Which is yet another good reason to check behind on the turn.
