If you have a strong hand like a set on a flop with only two suits, what is the optimal way to bet? I have been making a potsized bet on the flop and (assuming the turn is a brick) a pretty big bet on the turn.
How does position and your opponent's stats figure into your bet sizing (if they do at all)?
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Too general of a question. Obviously there are a number of factors that play into the decision. I suggest you either provide a hand history, or setup some sort of a hypothetical situation. Remember things like villain's tendencies, how we got to the flop, pot size, stack size, etc are you know.... kinda important.
if you raised pre and its headsup, just continue with 2/3rds - PSB depending on how drawy the board is
if you limped and flopped a set, you should probably pot it. with so many people in they could have many different combinations of draws which you need to price out
You want them to draw to a flush but don't give them the odds to do so. Charge 'em and let them draw to an unprofitable flush each time.
if you flop a set agenst a flush draw. i would most sertanly bet it for the value of the hand and as long as you think you are winning. if they go all in on a draw all you can do is take your lumps if he hits or fold the best hand. the real question is what is your goal??
