I hit a pretty rotten streak recently that dropped my BR down to $18. What I'm wondering is which is worth more, keep playing at my current level of $1 SnG and just go for broke and rebuy again or try and build it back up to $100. I don't think I have any other choice but to play outside my BR plus for how many weeks or months it might take me to get back, it's only $50 that I've been playing with since Dec.

I always felt the rake was so ghastly at the very lowest level SnGs that it made sense to have very aggressive BR rules until we moved past them. I personally dont see playing $1 sngs with $18 as being that terrible.
Hey Arcadian. My BR hit $13 at one point. This is where I clamped down and started playing my A-game. I actually think hitting those $13 was the best thing to happen to me. Since then I've been on a tear and have gotten my BR back up to $77. It can be done. Just clamp down and play your A-game. Consider this a challenge!
Are you playing any ring games? I've only been playing for a week now while actually studying poker and I'm playing at $2NL. It's not too bad and there are a lot of fish who go all-in with shit all that you can just be patient and make okay money. Let me know what you decide to do though.
My gambling side really wants you to go for broke hahaha. But I think you should definitely keep going. Or if you're willing to put money into your account, why not do it now instead of just gambling the $18?
Yeah the rake is what hurts me on FT.
I actually think I'm gonna do the $2.25 rather than the $1.25
25% rake is just ghastly. I also am no longer 3 tabling but only 2 to make better decisions.
why don't you play 2NL on stars? you can deposit $50 and clear that bonusQuote:

25% rake is hard. This is why Stars is better for micros. I do believe if your going to play the $2.25 SnG, only play one table. If you are going to redeposit think about Stars. The have those double or nothing sng that are a easy way to build a bank roll. With only $18 you need to be aggressive, but not stupid.
I do play on Stars, I made a mistake on playing on more than 1 site when first starting poker and that just made it impossible to move up in the ranks with a good BR so that's why I'm getting out of FT.
I prefer Stars a lot after playing at both of the sites and I know everyone says this but I have to agree that I have never had more suckouts and been more sucked out on than at Tilt. This past week I've shoved with AT got called with AK and crushed them with a boat. I had AA preflop, went up against AA and lost and I had 60 chips left in a tourny and then won after shoving 4 times in a row and winning each one which isn't so weird but I had absolutely nothing.
It happens on stars but it seems good hands hold up better there, perhaps it has something to do with the randomization of the cards. I know they use two different systems.
But I digress.
I do very well on Stars however and am grinding off the $50 and I plan to grow my BR there before I start bonus whoring once I get about $500.

Going broke should not be a option. Dont even think like that. Dont worry about the money worry about the hands your in and your game. Yeah my advice is to play $2NL. It's not volatile and if you have some skill, you should be slowly, but consistently increasing your BR.
Too bad I'm not. Either I don't have enough skill or I'm just getting way too much variance... lol. I would like to think it's the latter, but I have a feeling it has to do with skill unfortunately :(.
I play almost strictly Toruneys only and have just started to try 2NL. I would stick with the $2.25 on Tilt. That gives you eight tourneys to do something with. ABC poker works in these very well. Play one table at a time and really get to know your opponets. If you build up a little, resist the urge to move up stakes and keep playing these until you consistanly beat them. Then look at moving up to higher buy ins. My BR is now at around $90 (and has been +/- $10 for the whole year) and I still barely go above 2.25 SnG's and $3.30 KO 90 player MTT.
I was down to like $9 once, played a ring game until I was over $10 and then did a $10 DoN. Probably not the smartest idea but I won and haven't had to reload haha. It's like walking into a casino with $50 and plopping it down on red, except I had some semblance of control over whether I won or not.
Don't accept failure period.
Keep posting and participating in the dicussion, you seem like you've got the potential to turn your game around.
Post some extra hand histories where you're not sure of the correct play and the feedback will help alot.
LOL this reminds me. I got home last night and I was slightly drunk and I logged onto one of the No-Deposit Bonus poker programs on this site. So this program gave me a $12.75 bonus WITHOUT a deposit, and in my drunken state the roulette table they had got me interested. Anyways I went from that to $120. Which was great. Except I gambled that and lost it all, but I had a hell of a time (without spending money) so I don't even care. :DQuote:
