fairly regular hand.. suggestions ? pt 2

Another fairly common spot where I'm always confused as the right line... Often play it horribly and even get stacked sometimes which makes no sense. Just have a lot of trouble.

Hero in BB with 100 bb, button has ~300 bb 22/15 on smallish sample and is very very successful reg (pokertablelistings). Folded around to button, button raises to 3 bb.

Is the preflop even ok? Don't want to 3bet oop when I feel like he calls a large portion of the time... But then again I have been 3 betting too small for like all of my poker career (2.5-3x initial raise) I have just found out from FTR lol. So maybe I am wrong here. Seems silly to fold 88 when I'm ahead almost always...

So donk out on the flop? check/call? check/raise then check/fold blank turns?

None seem good as soon as he shows any interest post flop play.

If your answer is don't play this solid opponent oop without a monster, then please analyze for a worse/unknown opponent as its both this hand and similar situations in general that I have trouble with. Thanks guys!

Usually fold if he fires at A/K/Q turn but you gotta make some decisions and feel it out. Do you think villain fires 2 barrels w air? 3? Timing? Bet sizing?

turns a time to make a decision, check-call or fold depending on board, villains tendancies and timing.

If you checkraise a lot you can do it here for value, it will take down the pot pretty often, and when he has a 7 and doesn't believe you he won't want to put anymore money in the pot on turn or river. You also have to be pretty good at reading timing tells to determine if he's going to float you or flat you with a draw.

If you don't do any of that, probably just c/c then c/f a lot of turns. You really need to be a pretty good hand reader, or you need to know your opponent pretty well to play this situation oop.
