villain has been short stacked a while played a couple hands and won a few cents and is 29/6 avg. I feel I should have reraised the original raiser first to get a feel for where I stood, though with villains reraise with a Q on flop it made me think KK,AA or even worse QQ. Still there is doubt in my head over this, though I think it was a good fold cause even if he had JJ I'm totally dominated on the flop. I've been burned getting married to pockets, especially higher pockets so I'm making more of an effort to fold em if it seems like an AA or KK is out there.

I think you played this fine, can you show the flop play? UTGs stack size gives you awesome set odds to play your hand if he does have a strong hand, also if you 3 bet decently here theres a chance the big stack will shove over with hands like AA/KK/QQ/AK.

If it was headsup with the shortstack id probably 4bet shove here oop.

Ok lets try this mate, providing 29/6 stats is over a decent sample. Download pokerstove if you dont already have it.

Put in his 3bet range maybe 3% max if he raises only 6% of hands. Put in your TT and make his range 3% youll find that you have about 33% equity to win preflop. Add in another bigstack who for example is calling 3bets with the top 6% of his range and your equity drops to 26%.

Now add the flop and our equity drops again to 17% against their ranges, overall i think i would probably check fold the flop here. If i was to bet/fold it would be around 30-35c.

Hopefully this helps and my logic/numbers are right here, once again im a noobiedonk

3betting preflop (re-raising) is bad. And betting this flop without initiative is bad. So just call preflop, check the flop and fold to aggression on this particular flop with your particular hand.

If you want any further explanation, then you must try to either argue your point that re-raising preflop is correct, and I will rebuttal. Or you must try to explain to me why my reasoning might be correct, and why yours might be wrong.

3betting pf is bad because
Raiser is UTG.when we 3bet,the only hands that will continue will most likely has us beat.Why?Because then we are going to play with his 3betting calling range and his 4bet range.Do you think this is bad?
What ranges can u put him on if he cold call your 3bet or 4bet you?

OK thanks for the explanations...So I did the right thing preflop then, but should not have lead postflop...makes sense. I might be overly paranoid about higher pockets but this one kinda screamed out at me with the reraise preflop.

You were rather vague on the villains' ranges. Specifically, I'm interested in whether they would or would not play AK or even AJ this way. If the answer is "yes", then the postflop bet might make more sense (as you would be representing a big hand and perhaps those hands and even JJ may fold to you while better hands would raise and you would get out of the hand). Of course this depends on reads of the players' post-flop play and whether or not they will fold to aggression on the flop. It also depends on whether you believe that the villains will c-bet you even if they miss the flop in this situation.

On the other hand, if you think the only hands the villains have are better than TT, then check/fold if you have no set or draw and they bet.

Thats the thing lawdude, I didnt see many of his hands...he didnt play many of them, the only hands i remember seeing were those lightly bet or checked to the river when he was in the blinds. Any hands he raised preflop were either won by him or folded by him on flop/turn. So very little info on what he is raising and reraising with preflop therefore no clue what he is holding in these situations.
