Getting the most out of my HUD

I have an HUD, but I noticed that i hardly ever use the thing aside from vpip/pfr/Af. There are a bunch of other stats that I've been neglecting and I'm sure thats -EV.

I have PT3, and I like it, but I don't think I'm getting much out of it.

---Which stats do you guys use in the HUD?
---Which stats do you keep in the detailed report?

And I want to set color ranges to help me lable players better.

--What ranges do you guys use for vpip/pfr/Af for a tight aggro? loose passive? Laggy?


My recent downswing has forced me to refine my game while I tread this variance thing. I'm doing a LOT of reading on poker all over again. I absolutely need this refresher. And I think I should start a blog. It'll definitely keep me playing and posting on here, which is always +EV. :wink:

My HUD looks like this:

In limited usage, I have found use for all of those stats except for the last one.

That's quite a bit there, and I don't really have any kind of sample size yet that's big enough to warrant giving the postflop stats much credit, but I expect there will be a few close situations here and there where such stats will be at least somewhat helpful.


I have color ranges set for all the non-popup stats. If a stat indicates that a player is tight, I tend to have that in red. In between I use blue, and for loose indicators I use green. This makes it easy for me to see that a tight player is raising and to put the brakes on, or that a loose player is raising and I'm okay to 3bet or call in position with a wider range.

quick question:

CCPF= cold call preflop.... does this tell how often he limps? Or does it combine how often he limps with how often he limp/calls?

A cold call is when there's been a bet and then a raise before it gets to you, and you call the raise. Neither limping nor limp/calling are cold-calling.

Also, I think cold call pretty much implies that they're flatting you in position. I don't think that calling from the blinds counts.

I tend to use Call PFR instead of CCPF because I like the information on how often the blinds call. If I have tight players behind me and the blinds tend to call preflop raises a lot, I can open my range a little bit and take advantage of my better equity. By that I mean that if someone is calling preflop with 30%+, they're generally calling even wider from the blinds. So I might open a hand that is top 20% from middle position (as long as I don't expect to get cold called) since I'm way ahead of the range of the blinds that will be calling me.

BB/100 hands is a waste of space. It's results oriented and that's not what you're looking for with an HUD. You want to find out how your opponenet responds to certain situations. It's also worthless unless you have 10-20K+ hands on them.

It's better to notice whether your opponent is +$ or -$ during a given session. Reason being is their behaviour may change accordingly. Example: Opponent tightens up alot after adding lots of chips to his stack, but becomes reckless and spewy when he is in the red in attempt to gain back what he has lost. Of course noticing things like this is probably better suited for live play since everyone multitables these days and won't notice this too much.

Better stats to include in your HUD would be the basically the rest of the ones mentioned to you in this thread.

What do you guys think about table statistics?

Are you all using these? If so, which ones?

dunno, google maybe? PT3 was costing me money by being an error- and bug-ridden piece of shit so i switched to HEM.

edit - just opened up PT3 and couldn't find that stat

unless you know what to do to expoit a certain stat for tons of BB's don't bother with it on your hud. Find what works in your games and use that to make money and get reads.

Having 4bet and fold to 4bet stats at the micros is a waste of time and info, so are all these preflop calling, folding and CC stats. Everyone calls too much at the micro and small stakes games. If someone has a 53/8 stat then he is calling too much, and all the time. If they are 13/10 they are folding too much. Have the stats that tell you about the style of player they are and nothing else. Until you actually know how to play and exploit just learn how to read players, boards and get ranges based on preflop stats and narrow them based on the flop stats.

Here is what you need.

VPIP/PFR/AF/hands
ATTsteal/3bet/fold to 3bet
Cbet/fold to cbet/fold to T cbet
and if you want another use WTSD% or WWSF% to see if these guys are going to showdown too often. about 25% is more than enough, WWSF% should be about 40% or more.
