Live Software
Is there any software that exists that is either specifically designed for or could be used or altered for live games? Basically I'm interested in a program that could be installed on an iPod Touch or ultra portable laptop or tablet PC where you can manually take notes of players and possibly simulate the game by selecting the cards and bets and then automatically convert that data to VPIP%, preflop raise %, post flop aggression, and the like.

typing everyone's actions into a computer at a live game sounds like a great way to make terrible players play better AND let them know you are better than they are.
Given you have nothing else to do besides study everyone I don't really see why you need this - the whole reason we use HUDs is to run a bunch of tables, if you need a HUD for one table your game needs work.
-
Even if such a program existed, of which I'm not aware, it's highly unlikely that it would be allowed at the table. I'm not sure you can even use a laptop at the table at all.
-
:/ ... Well, I envisioned using it on something ultra portable like a iPod Touch or netbook, not a big ole laptop. It would be discreet enough so that as far as they knew, I was playing with my Mp3 player or something like that, which are allowed @ the table because I've seen them. And, note taking is allowed @ the table, too. Most people use old fashioned pen and paper.
But, at any rate, by your answers I assume you know not of any such animal.

I would also disagree with note taking for the same reason. There is no reason to let people know you know what you are doing. They may either start playing better against you or leave altogether since you're obv a shark.
If you can't get a line on how someone plays while you're sitting at the table you probably aren't going to take any useful notes anyway, just play your cards until you get more experience. If you have regs in your game taking notes at home after each session is great.
-
Just to be clear. I don't want them knowing I'm taking notes either. I want them to think I'm playing with an mp3 player or something or text messaging or whatever. I think my line on people is just fine, but I'm always looking to improve. So, if you have any ideas to that end, I'd love to hear them - software or without. I do also take notes after a session. To have the equivalent of a HUD in live games either in your head, an ultra portable device, old fashioned pen and paper, or whatever would be sweet.

What a strange thread!
