Gross spot w/ AQ

This was the 3rd hand in a row that I had raised. On the first, villain flatted me in position, raised my cbet, and I folded. Other than that, he was new to the table and I had no other info on him. I feel like I should be 4-betting here.

he probably has the rawkets and sucks at poker. I'm not willing to felt 70bbs with a hand that stacks up quite poorly (28% equity) against a typical all-in range (JJ+,AK).

But now the pot is $1.45 and it's only $0.50 to call. I didn't like the idea of calling out of position and stacking on an A or Q flop (I've run into AA, AK, KK, AAA, and QQQ there way too much doing that), and I thought it looked like an isolation raise of some sort, like he thought I was opening a really wide range.

Then again, I think I'm still having trouble with giving these low stakes players too much credit for being good. When he raised my KJ cbet on the QQ4 flop a couple hands ago, he had probably flatted me with QT or some crap like that. When he raised me here, he probably had JJ+,AK. So why is it so hard for me to just fold AQ in this spot?

it's hard to fold because you just haven't played enough hands to understand what your opponent is going to show up with here. Once you continually get your money in bad you'll start to realize that stacking off with AQo in this situation isn't the best play.

Fortunately, I didn't stack off, but the 4bet/fold line I took left a bad taste in my mouth since I almost had odds to call and chase down QQ+/AK.

4b/f is absolutely horrible. If you 4-bet a reasonable amount you have to call.
Stop thinking that people are going after you, because most of the time they are not.

This is actually wrong, especially with AQ when our opponents 5bet range is QQ+,AK.

A lot depends on the size of your 4bet and your opponents stack size but there are actually plenty of spots where 4bet/folding AQ is a viable option. However, this more than likely isn't one of them as he's obviously not any good at poker so if we were to 4bet it should be a shove, not something like $2.10 that he'll flat and we'll still have like 48bbs left to play with on the flop.
