Argh 2nl AQ is killing me...

Don't know why but it feels like I'm being dealt AQo a hell of a lot and losing with it a hell of a lot. I think I played this pretty standard at first but got a bit lost towards the end.

I think that this typifies one of the main things I need to work on. Those hands which are definitely worth a raise and a c-bet on a dry board against few opponents I'm good with, the trouble is, like most 2nlers I suck after this stage, i.e when my c-bet doesn't take it down.

Any thoughts on handling the diminishing value of premium hands on 4th and 5th street much appreciated as it's driving me a bit nutty.

What spenda says. Not betting the turn makes you so easy to play against since I bet your betting the turn everytime you have TPTK. I have a ton of notes on people that I float constantly that have high Cbet and C/F turn stats. Even $0.30 on the turn will make you money so often, so long as you bet your TPTK, 2pr and sets the same way.

Why do you think I'd advise against cbetting the flop?

Ummm.... OK let's think this through...

The usual reasons I'd avoid c-betting is if I've missed my flop but the cards hit the range with which my opponent might call my preflop raise with... I guess a really simple example would be something like JJ on an AKQ board...

Otherwise if I'm up against 3 or more opponents, sometimes 2....

Otherwise on a drawy board I'd avoid it... I guess this is a kind of drawy board, so I'll go for that lol...

Basically I would advise against continuation betting because it's unlikely our opponent will ever fold a better hand than AQ on this flop. Had I decided to continuation bet the turn card is a great one to represent+it adds about 10% more equity to our hand.

I think it's a pretty easy flop for people to float on. Basically anything connected > 5 has some kind of draw or pair. AK is the literally the only thing that doesn't have at least gutshot and a lot of people are going to float that for overs.

Is this close to right? However, I think I'm c-betting here a lot too. Perhaps this is a leak on my part.

so here if we were OOP, then we'd just check-fold?

Don't cbet. I would bet the turn as played and if flop checked through. Snap fold river. Dunno where the problem is? How could you possibly justify a river call?

the FR nit that is going to snap-fold any flop where he doesn't have a set

or maybe we can bet/shove vrs a serial check/raiser? though, they'll probably call with A9 every time

I delayed cbet the turn though because any time you raise PF everyone automatically assumes you have AK
