I have $450 profit at 25nl and am a decent player but I withdraw a couple weeks ago down to $250 and now hit a downswing and am at $150. I obv cant continue at 25nl right now, but don't want to try to play 10nl at FT again (RAKE). So, I'm looking for suggestions as to what type of SNG I should play on full tilt. Again my br is $150 so I'm not sure what buy ins I should attempt. Suggestions?
not sure what the SNG Buy-ins are at FT, but using the 20-30 buy in bankroll mgmt rule you should only be playing in $5ish SNG's. You may want to post this in the SNG forum as it has been quite a few months since I moved over to cash games and their may be new developments and/or games that I am unaware of.
Do you have any experience of SNGs?
I ask because if not, you may need more than 30 buyin's. You may also be better at the longer SNGs as opposed to the turbos.
Around the $5 level seems good, but try out around the $3 level first to see how well you play and if you're comfortable with the set up. Come to the SNG forum if you do and post hands, we'll try to help.
As to the question of whether or not you *should* move to sngs, that is one for you. Do you want to play SNgs, or Cash games? It seems to me that asking FTR what game you should play seems a little silly. I know we want to make money, but we should also play poker because we enjoy it. I say choose the game you most want to play, and that you are best at.
If you are used to ring, then I would suggest moving your roll over to PokerStars rather than switching over to SNG's. The difference between the two can be frustrating and you really need to be able to adjust to the rising size of the blinds.
If you really want to give it a go, this is going to sound insane, but start by playing a few of the $1 Sng's. Yes, the table fee is 25%, but the players are so bad that you should be able to get used to the format pretty quickly and make a few dollars. That way when you move up to the $2 or $5 ones, you don't bust out just because you are unfamiliar with the format.
In terms of Bankroll Management, I would no higher than the $5 games, but I would suggest sticking to the $2 games. You can play awesome and still bust out in fourth because you had a dry run of cards.
Definitely head to the SNG forum, they have a ton of great advice there. If there is one piece of advice I can tell you; play for first, not for the money. Making third place consistently is a waste of your time.

I agree and would add that you shouldn't play for "any" place, but should focuse on making the right play on each hand of the tournament. Doing this will give you the best shot at winning.

Thanks for all the responses everybody. I *WANT* to play cash, but have played 1 table SNGS before and I don't mind it at all. If I succeed and boost my BR up enough I'm going back to 25 no question. .
For the br questions, I know I wasn't rolled for it at $250 but I thought my chances were pretty high that I could grind it out, I wasn't far from being rolled. The good news is that I know I can beat 25 nl so I just have to wait
I'm playing FT and I was surprised to find that their are no turbo's in the $3-5 dollar range. (besides a no skill involved 300 chip ultra). So I just played four $5 9 person sngs and placed 3rd, 1st, 4th, and 7th for $10 profit. Are these tourneys recommended by you guys? Or should I try a 1-2$ or $6 turbos? I think ill spend alot of time over at the sng forum, trying to learn this %*(!!........PS: does anybody know of an article relating to HUD stats within SNGS?
If you know you can beat $25 and you want to continue cash games, play $10 NL at stars. The rake is less hefty I believe. You should be able to crush that game.

Yeah I know what you mean about the rake at 10NL on FT. I've been playing there for a while. Have about $215 from my original $50 (started with SnG's) and cannot wait until I have enough to be rolled for 25NL. After 6K hands and a $75 profit, I given up $80 in rake. That's just disgusting...
Iopq, have you got any interpretation to go with your graph. i.e do you think you are a break even player at that level or does the run from trough to peak encourage you to think that you can beat this level? And any idea's why you had some rapid losses , was it bad beats or bad play or just variance.
Although I have no experience at that level stakes I'm going to say its just something that comes with the territory at 50nl. At his lowest point he was only down around 5 BI's or so. Which honestly isn't a MAJOR drop in your BR (but obviously it still blows). Plenty of people go on a lot worse losing sessions.Quote:

And as for the OP I say just move ur roll to stars and play the 10nl games. Soon enough you will be able to switch back over to FT (if you want that is ;)).
