Being the BB, how do you respond to SB's all in?
It depends on the betting, the size of the all in, reads on the SB, your hand, action in the last few hands, if there are other players in the pot...What were you looking for with this question? Is it about a specific hand? Is this about playing in blind vs. blind in general? I don't know what to say except "it depends."
I have seen this situation so many times when BB and SB are heads up. People even go all in with even number of chips and any time. They go all in with terrible hands. I sometimes cant take myself accepting the offer but there is a probability of losing all your cihips.
Sklansky-Chubukov hand rankings
Are you talking about a tournament or a cash game?
I respond by clicking 1 of 2 buttons
A or B on your nintendo?Quote:

Thank you all for your comments. I think the answer I was looking for is Sklansky-Chubukov hand rankings. I ll try to figure it out. Thanks iopq!

best advice for such a vague question. If you can put SB on a range either of these apps will tell you if calling with particular hands is +EV.Quote:

Thank you bigred, I have downloaded pokerstove. Are we allowed to use it during the games?
Thanks
You can definitely ask vague questions here, however you will need to be thick skinned enough to handle some of the responses you got here (such as the "A and B button" ones). I was merely tyring to reiterate that Bigreds suggestion was the one that you should take note of. Sorry if my reply came off any differently.Quote:

One of the things that you will learn as your progress in your poker playing ability is that it is such a situational game that vague questions such as yours are extremely tough to answer. There will be at least 4+ factors in each situation that will lead you to the answer of how you should play certain hands in the BB against a SB shove.
As for using pokerstove while you are playing there are two factors related to that question. Technically using these apps while playing is generally prohibited and some sites are starting to put in measures that won't allow you to have these types of programs open while playing. With that said, if you can open the program while playing then use it.
Before you try using it during play though you may want to use it while reviewing HH's until you get pretty good at inputting hands and ranges into the program. This will enable you to use it in an efficient mannor without it being to disruptive to your game.
I just realized that you had "I don't know what +EV is but thanks anyway" embedded in my quote.
+EV is short for positive expectation value and is a term that, in general, means if you make a move for a certain situation hundreds of times you should expect that move to be either +EV or -EV. In other words you would expect the value of that hand to either have a positive effect on your bankroll or a negative effect.
You need to stop playing poker immediately and learn what it is, and why it is important. Read some stickies (at the top of the beginner section), maybe read Harrington on Holdem, or the book by sklansky.Quote:

In fact I think this is as if not more important than hand rankings and understanding what a blind is.
Wait this was a serious question?
