a few calls
i've been making a few more river calls.
here's one. villain is 32/25/2.25 over 70 hands. saw him call 2 bets chasing a gut shot and over card with QT. seen him call three 3 bets in position.
good cbet? good river call?

What he had in hand 1 would directly influence my decision for hand 2. Also, what did he do on the river when he called two streets with gutty+overcard? Did he bluff at it, check it down? And what did he have in the hand he called 3 barrels with? U should include this info!
Incidentally, if u have a read that he's a chaser u should bet turn harder in both hands. Pot bet both (+ flop in hand 2). I also wouldn't cbet hand 1.
-
he didn't bluff the QT hand. he checked behind.
why is cbetting hand 1 unadvised? draws will call and fold a brick on the turn. to many cards that aren't bricks could come on the turn right? any heart... J, Q, 9, 7, 6.... thats 24 scare cards.
-
So u saw him call 2 barrels with gutshot+overcard yet you are expecting him to fold to a blank turn this time? And the very fact there are a ton of scarecards is the reason u shouldn't cbet here! Half the deck has you worried and u'll still have A high most of the time. I would only cbet here if i had a heart in my hand.
-
yes you are right about the cbet. i was just working it out to myself.
in hand 1 he showed J9o. how does that influence you for hand 2?
-
Insta super fistpump snap call then. I'd take exactly the line u did as well (apart from the bigger bet sizes i mentioned earlier). NH.
-
the call in hand 1?? that one is kinda iffy... i just didn't feel like he HAD to have the flush... plus his bet size and speed was kinda weird. it was a little to big and a little to fast.
-
The only reason to check hand1 is to induce a bluff. The only decision on the river is call or raise. I don't think there's much value in raising.
How can you even think about folding?
C-bet on the flop is very small for that board. Checking would be an option! It really is :P
hand 2
safe those plays for the button and sb. Are you folding any hands at all PF?
bet more on the flop
bet more on the turn
vbet river
as played: you're checking to induce a bluff, so call.
You're probably thinking result oriented. There are so many hands he could have, a flush is just a small part of that range. Start putting people on ranges on not on "I think he has xx here".
If they are not prone to bluff, you are loosing value by check-calling. You're paying off hands that beat you and don't get value from hands that you beat.
