Position
I understand position is important when playing in a tourney with players who understand poker but in low level MTT's does it really matter? you can be first aggressor in some instances and that is all you need.
For example a tight unimaginative (at least that is your perception of him) player raises 3xBB (stacks are 20+xBB) and you call with suited connectors (8-9diamonds for arguments sake). Flop comes 2,5, J. Check to bettor who makes continuation bet of 2/3 blinds. How often would you reshove here?
I go with 50% (higher or lower?)

Uhhh.... Your situation is rather flawed I believe. Where is the villain opening from, and where are you calling from. It seems you are calling with SCs with little implied odds OOP, which is not a good thing. And you state that you c/shove as a bluff here >50% of the time? I dont play tourneys, but that has to be a bad idea.
Bottomline, position is important. It's incredibly important in most situations in poker. Poker is a game of incomplete information, and when you are given a chance to gain information then you can make a better decision. When in position, you can get more information cheaper.

Position always matters. Check out ISF's article on position here:

Position cannot be overrated.
You first need to understand why position is important - Follow Robbs link.
You might also want to rethink calling raises with sc's with 20bb effective stacks.

you need to have at least 60BB or more effective stacks to make this call. I typically don't play tourneys either but in the shovement world I would assume 89s sucks ass in a raised pot HU

Your inital question doesn't really match with your example.
In MTTs you can use your position in different ways. Sometimes it's better to be in EP, sometimes it's better to be in LP. It always depends on the situation. Can you think of a time when it would be better to be in EP? How about LP?

When you play position and your opponents do not, you immediately have an advantage. In this case EP raising with a monster like AA or KK will get no respect, which just builds the pot.

...just be prepared for all the suckouts.
